Horse Hair Keepsakes

I’m looking to have a bracelet made, maybe a necklace, with my horse’s hair. There are A LOT of people who make these things now! Looking for someone who uses quality materials like sterling silver, gold, etc. Nothing plated. Don’t want something that will tarnish and never be able to polished again. Anyone have any personal recommendations from artists/companies they’ve used? Thanks in advance!

PM spacytracy. She makes horsehair items. Check out her artistry on the Always Funny thread the last one.

I have a bracelet from Tail Spin that’s almost ten years old and still in excellent condition. The beading/clasp and heart charm have tarnished a little bit but I’ve been kinda lazy about polishing it, but otherwise it’s held up very well. If I’d actually take some time to polish it, it’d look fine again. I wear my bracelet all the time, working, riding, whatever really, besides submerging it in water.

My aunt makes custom pieces that are predominately gold/silver with a “keepsake window” in the back with a piece of the hair inside. They are on the pricier side, but very high quality. Let me know if you want more details!

I used Equine Keepsakes when my gelding passed in October. Beautiful keychain. She had tons of options of what you could do with the hair.

I have been looking at their stuff. There are a ton of options. I am glad to read you like what you ordered.

I have a small amount of hair from my first horse. Does anyone make rings? It’s not enough for a bracelet or anything but it I think it would be enough to inlay in a ring.

Equine Keepsakes appears to make rings and other things that only require a little amount of hair.

Thanks! Clicking links probably would have helped

@Mulligan314 that is lovely! I contacted her through her website with a few questions. I most likely will get a ring made up.

Thank you all! I’ll look up the folks mentioned. @Denali6298 I have seen rings on Etsy by an artist that look beautiful. No personal experience but here’s the link: https://www.etsy.com/shop/HorseHairC…g_id=603612589

@HJdaydream could you send me more info on the pieces your aunt makes? Would love to see some examples. Thank you

http://ponylocks.com/jewelry-showcase.htm I have the bracelet in style #005 that I wear regularly. I had it made maybe 6 years ago at this point? It looks the same as the day I received it. I like the style much better than what I regularly see, and she incorporated 3 of my horses’s hair in it. I’m so glad I had it made.

@DressageHorses4Me I got my mother one of those plated bracelets from that etsy shop for Christmas. It came out absolutely GORGEOUS. I wish I had gotten myself one! It was more jewelry-like versus a bracelet of hair, which is what I was going for. I think it was well worth the cost!

I got a bracelet made by Tails of Love on Etsy, and she did a fantastic job – even took it back and resized it when I measured wrong and had it made too big :ambivalence: I’ve had it for a few years now, and it still looks as new as the day I got it. She’s got a few different braid patterns that she can do, and they all look amazing! https://www.etsy.com/shop/TailsofLove

I used equine keepsakes as well, got 2 bracelets made (one for me and one for my grandma, who owned my pony before me). Prices seemed reasonable, and her communication was great (let me know when the horse hair arrived, production time, etc). The hair arrived at her location on the 6th of the month and the bracelets were done and on their way to me by the 15th (took less time than what she quoted me, which was cool).
