Horse hair rings/jewelry

So I have read other post regarding the jewelry, but most focus is on bracelets, necklaces, belts, ect.

I recently had a wonderfully horse of mine have to be put down for serious injuries. I saved her tail and want to get a memorial ring made for her.

Originally I was looking at House of Samli, but I like to do my research (I don’t like to be scammed) and I can’t find hardly ANY reviews! There are only 2 reviews to be found, which are negative. I did see a thread on here that claimed House of Samli is an “offshoot” of nannasalmi, that they stole her ideas.

The two businesses have beautiful products, but wildly different prices.
Does anyone on here have any experience with either of these companies or is there a place in North America that makes similar products?

i’ve gotten a bracelet from www.tailspinbracelets.com which is based in USA. i sent in tail clippings from 2 of my horses, was very pleased with results and different options available. don’t remember if they do rings but worth a look. good luck and sorry for your loss.

I made my own for my daughter for Christmas. It’s really not that hard and you can make a really nice one for far less than anyone sells for!

The type of ring I want is silver and horse hair, with a blue stone, she was a blue roan paint. So it’s not really something I can make myself

I had a bracelet made with Tara and it is beautiful . I used tail hair from my deceased TB and my current TB (they were buddies for close to a decade) and she did an amazing job. She also does rings - maybe contact her and she if she can do what you want?

Suzanne Storms makes fine jewelry. Exquisite. Pricey but worth it. Most shown are made of gold. Silver should be significantly cheaper if she would use it in a ring.

Had this design made when I had to PTS my 3 year old colt in Oct due to an impaction in the pelvuc bend of his small intestine. :frowning:

Went to Equine affair and Tara was awesome. You can shower with it on and do what ever. The square braid is tight and very strong.

Maybe Enter at A could do something for you? I LOVE her stuff and she is very nice

I am reviving this thread to see if anyone has subsequent experiences or suggestions. I am likewise interested in the types of rings House of Salmi offers – not something you can make yourself and I don’t want a bracelet – but am wary of the negative reviews, even though they are very active on fB.

Galla Designs does jewellery for Olympians around the world at very reasonable prices. The quality is outstanding.

how does that work? or bracelets for that matter? always wanted to do something special to commemorate my departed horse (and now have a recently departed one as well) but i was always afraid of the tail hairs breaking? this would be something i’d wear daily… do they last long? are they covered in something?

If you contact Trish of Galla Designs directly, she would be the person to ask. She’s absolutely lovely to talk to and would be happy to answer any questions you may have. I’ve had my bracelet (one of the flat weaves) for many years now, and it still looks brand new.

She does work for people all over the world.

Her website doesn’t do her beautiful pieces justice.

I second Trish at Galla Designs http://www.galladesigns.com/products.html , I have had three bracelets made by her, and she does exquisite work for a very reasonable price.
She has also branched out artistically into other products and designs, including rings. Her website doesn’t do her justice, I agree, but she also has a FB page.
She is also extremely kind and will go out of her way to get work done for you. She made bracelets for Jessica Phoenix and A Little Romance’s owner, plus a halter tag for A Little Romance herself to wear at the Olympics, using hair from her dam and her sire, A Fine Romance.
Her FB page shows more of her current designs.

We have used Galla for several bracelets and contacted her about a ring, but never followed through as horse left the boarding barn before we could surprise fellow boarder. Loved all her work and she is awesome to work with!!
