Horse Insurance: Who do you use, coverage's etc?

On the hunt for new insurance and just thought I would ask who is using what company, how they like them? If they paid claims quickly, exclusions etc. Really prefer insurance that will cover the latest advances rather than exclude for “experimental”. Sure looking for input and experiences. Appreciate your comments in advance.

I carry farm insurance underwritten by American Bankers. It is the most comprehensive farm insurance I’ve found. I don’t carry mortality/medical on the horses. They do offer it. My agent specializes in farm/ranch insurance. They’re Goetz based in Colorado. I’ve never had a claim. Knock on wood.

We used them some years ago and they were good and knew their stuff.
They were prompt to pay for a claim for an injured horse.
They support the horse industry sponsoring classes at shows.
May want to see what they have to offer in your situation.

We have been using these past few years a company that works at horse shows, the trainer’s choice.
You may try some of the bigger horse shows close to you.
See who has set information tables for their insurance company and you can talk to them.

I’ve had both Markel and Hallmark. I switched to Hallmark about 8 years ago because they offered a little bit of a higher colic rider than Markel. I’ve not shopped around as have been very happy with Hallmark. I had 2 back to back claims for colic surgery that they paid promptly. Horse now has colic exclusion which is fine, still insured with Hallmark at age 19! I’ve some friends who are very happy with Broadstone.

I have had good luck with Broadstone. Service is good, price seems reasonable.
