Horse Pool

What are the common dimensions? Depths?

What is your favorite design? Straight track? Loop?

I’ve only used a round pool. It seems to me that it would be easier to get a horse in trouble out of a round pool, than one in a channel type design. If that’s what you mean by straight track versus loop. Also perhaps more efficient in terms of the amount of space you’re using. You could swim for as long or little as you like in a round. But, like I said, I’ve never used what I think you mean by a straight track.

Most efficient use of space would be the stationary pool, the only kind I’ve used. It’s a small rectangle with a ramp in on one short side. Horse walks in and swims when feet no longer touch. Horse swims in place. Handlers turn the horse 180• to walk it out.

The only pool I’ve used was a straight track. Horses walked in until they couldn’t touch for x amount of feet and then they could touch and walk out the ramp on the other side.

Stationary pools sounds similar to this?

I’ve been looking at different variations of the loop style pools as well.
