Reading those comments at the end of the article are quite humorous… Its a very controversial subject, but if horses are going to be slaughtered, I would much rather it be done in the states with regulations, instead of shipping who knows how many hours on a trailer slam packed full of horses basically stacked on top of each other to go to a meat processing plant with about 0 regulations.
Now for the TWH - I believe that anyone who shows and owns a TWH and allows their horse to be sored is despicable - worse than the people who slaughter the horses - because at least the horse at the slaughter plant is put out of its misery - a TWH has to endure it day in and day out and still perform in the show ring. NOW that is sick.
I was thinking the same thing.
Horses will invariably go to slaughter solong as there as those too uncaring to put them down when necessary. I would rather see it done in the US, in a reasonably close facility where some control can be maintained than the present awful set-up.
As far as soring goes I wish we could apply the soring product to the perpetrators.

Perhaps the OP should brush up on her(?) School House Rock. The bill was passed by the House. It has not been passed by the Senate and has not been signed by the President. It is not a law; the slaughter ban has not been rescinded.
Soring horses has been illegal since the 1970s. The fact that it happens does not mean that it is legal. The restrictions that were proposed were controversial in their scope. That an obvious animal rights group is playing fast and loose with the truth is not surprising.
Never let facts get in the way of self-righteous outrage.
The Udall-Graham bill passed and there will be no slaughter of horses in the United States for now…soring horses, well, no one will ever be able to stop that because HSUS HAS NO GUTS…THEY ARE ALL TALK AND NO ACTION AND I KNOW THIS FOR A FACT BECAUSE I WORKED IN A WALKING HORSE BARN THAT WAS SORING THE SHIT OUT OF HORSES AND I REPORTED IT AND THEY SENT AN INVESTIGATOR THAT WENT TO WORK WITH ME (B4 I WAS FIRED) AND HE MADE VIDEO, PICTURES, TOOK SWAB SAMPLES,YOU NAME IT…AND AFTER EVERYTHING CAME BACK FROM THE LAB POSITIVE FOR ILLEGAL SUBSTANCES, LEGAL IN WASHINGTON TOLD THEM TO START "AT THE LOCAL LEVEL…BEDFORD CO TN) AND HSUS DID NOT EVEN PURSUE IT BECAUSE THEY SAID BEDFORD CO WOULD NOT COOPERATE IF THEY TRIED…so there you go. this is one reason it continues.
