Horse Solarium Use??

Hi all

I just moved stableyards and my new one has a solarium and since it’s becoming winter here in South Africa, I see people using it all the time. My questions are just what are the advantages of using one, how long can/must you use it for and can the horses be dry or wet when using one?

Thanks

So funny, because I am in Belgium and was just telling a friend of mine back in the States about how my new yard has a horse solarium, and now I don’t think I ever want to be without one!!

If only for it’s use as a giant horsey hair dryer!!

This isn’t the one we have, and sucks to Cian O’Connor, but this explains the benefits in neat bullet points: http://www.horsesolariums.com/#!services/c158d

For me, most important is this one “Infrared bulbs heat penetration is a great source of Vitamin D which is an essential vitamin for healthy skin and muscle development, which horses get from the sun and is often lacked in the winter months.” so important when we’re talking about show horses who really don’t get turned out with any regularity.

But also, it cuts drying time on a wet horse exponentially!!

Love. Repeat, don’t ever want to be without!
