horse trailer pricing?

I’m thinking of selling my horse trailer but I’m not sure how much to ask for it. Any suggestions for a starting price?

2006 Trail-Et 2 horse slant gooseneck
Very clean and in excellent condition (cleaned after every use/never driven in winter)
Used twice in the last two years

Check for comparable trailers on www.horsetrailerworld.com. Look at trailers that are as close to yours as possible.

For my 2002 Featherlite 3 horse slant with dressing room, motorized awning, new tires, excellent condition I was qouted $9,000 as a trade in price. He said I could try for a private sale at $10 or 11000, but banks won’t finance anything over 10 years old. He also directed me to horsetrailerworld for comps.

Banks will definitely finance older trailers. It may not be a typical auto loan, but I just financed a 2003 trailer this year and had financed a 1999 about 3 years ago. Both were financed through local banks we use regularly with the bank holding the title until the loans were paid off. Don’t believe everything a dealer tells you!

I just sold my 2006 trail et, straight load, bumper pull, with dressing room for $8200. Immaculate condition and new tires last summer. Hope that helps. I would think a gooseneck would be priced a bit higher.
See if there is a trailer for sale Facebook page in your area and try to get a feel for prices.
Trail ets are great trailers, but a little harder to find a value since they went out of business in I think 2008.

I’m trailer shopping right now, and my bank dude told me that he has a pricing guide he can use to determine whether or not he’ll cover the loan on a trailer. If you’re planning on replacing it and financing, you might check in with your bank on pricing the old one.
