I know there was a thread on this in 2007, but things may have changed over 6 years. Can anyone give me their opinions or reviews on any 2 horse bumper pull? Trailers they did or didn’t like and why? I am looking to buy one soon and would like it to last for many years. Thanks!

I have a Shadow 2011 2HSL GN that I love. It is aluminum and insulated. It a nice light trailer. I would say its a middle of the road trailer in the world of trailers. But I have had zero issues with it and it pulls great. I very happy with it.
I’ve been very pleased with my Logan ‘Warmblood’ 2H BP purchased a year ago. I sold my '93 Shoop, which was still going strong but I finally decided I deserved a trailer with a tack room. Pulls great, horses love it, and the Logan folks at the factory (in Logan UT) are very nice about working with you to customize things as desired (you do have to buy it through your closest dealer, but they really will put on whatever bells and whistles you want, including in my case a fold-down cot in the tack room).

I had an older Featherlite two horse bumper pull straight load which I loved. Super light and easy to haul with. Featherlites are great trailers.
Ah, this is a timely thread for me as well…it looks like I will be in the market for my first trailer in the next few months. I’m currently leaning towards a Shadow 2 horse BP slant load. I have a reiner that is only about 14.2-14.3 and compact. I’ve seen in several places to stay away from Eclipse trailers - which is of course one of the trailers the local dealer sells 
I’m curious to see what gets recommended.

I had also heard that about Eclipse but Mr P and I saw several at the VA Equine Extravaganza so we ordered one. He picked up at the factory dealership in OH.
The trailer is amazing. I am very impressed with the workmanship and attention to detail.
It’s a 2 horse straight load with side escape ramp. We bought the delux package and added bigger tires.
Previously we were very pleased with our CM Saratoga but it was a bit small for Sophie
Stay away from Lakota. Tin cans on wheels.
Very pleased with any of the trailers by EquiSpirit. Solid, safe construction. Haul like a dream.

What’s the trouble been with Eclipse? I’ve had one for 2 years and I love it!
My pics won’t help, it’s a 3H GN with a LQ…but as a brand … I couldn’t be more pleased with the Merhow Verylite.
I have a 2-horse BP Kingston that I bought new in 2003 - the trailer has lived outside the entire time and still looks brand new. If I could afford a Jamco then I’d get one but I can’t so I went with the Kingston - those are the only two I truly like. My father always bought Kingstons back when I was a kid (70’s) - they were super nice and durable back then just as they are today… and they hold their resale value!

I have a shadow gn 2+1 trailer bought in 2010. I have had no issues with the trailer. From what I understand the trailers are only manufactured with USA or Canadian parts (not China) and I have found all the latches, mats etc to be of good quality. The trailer is not fancy but it appears to be well made. I have seen many trailers that looked nice when they were new with lots of bells and whistles that started to have hardware and other parts break down.
Anyone know how Fautras are? I only ask b/c in my head I am pulling one with my BMW SUV and it is filled with to Iberian horses.
I want to know if my day dream is any good.
(IOW I am not really in the market, but curious)
I have a Trail-Et New Yorker two horse bumper pull. Great trailer and I’m really happy with it, plus I got a steal of a deal on it, hardly used for a great price (it is a 2005). I wanted a straight load, with plenty of room for larger horses, and this fit the bill. Trail-Et has gone out of business, but Hawk is very similar. I would go Hawk in a minute - they are also very nice trailers.
I looked at Sundowner and decided the aluminum floor with all the care issues was not for me. Plus they’ve had their own share of problems and I couldn’t keep straight which years were good vs. bad, etc.
Previously drove a Logan extra tall, extra wide two horse that was, in its time, a great trailer. All steel so heavy, but I think that saved my horse as she and I were hit by a crazy woman hydroplaning (because she was in way too much of a hurry entering the freeway on a super rainy day). Ripped one wheel off and took out the back corner. Still don’t know how the trailer didn’t flip - it rocked and rolled so much it twisted the tongue but stayed hooked up and upright. Trailer was totaled, horse ok – if I didn’t mind the weight, I’d go Logan again. But I believe they went out of business, didn’t they? There were a bunch that went under when the economy tanked.
Also have been in a couple of the Exiss (sp?) trailers and wasn’t that impressed. They shake and rattle when you do anything, opening them up, loading, etc. – it just didn’t sound as solid as my Trail-Et. Horses load well on mine and get all freaked when asked to get on the Exiss as it just seems like everything is rattling and banging the moment they step up.
I have a 2 horse BP Sundowner 777 trailer straight load and I love it! Mine is a 2006 model, so presumably it isn’t subject to the issues with the earlier model aluminum trailers. It’s very roomy in front, which the horses seem to appreciate. I use mine several times weekly and (knock wood) I haven’t had a problem with it.

We have had a Trail-Et since 2000…great trailer. Somewhere someone told me that Hawk built them for Trail-et, hence the similarity and the parts availability going forward.
Yup Rabt etal – the same people, Tom & Neva Scheve, designed & built for Trail-et first, then Hawk and now have their own company, EquiSpirit. Hence the similiar “look” to them.
