The University of Chicago branch of ARCE (American Research Center in Egypt) is hosting a lecture on “Horses and Chariots in New Kingdom Egypt: An Interdisciplinary Ride” by Peter Raulwing - Associate at the ISAC. It is Saturday Sept 9, at 5 PM CT (6PM ET).
The ARCE lectures are both in-person and on Zoom. They are free and open to the public, but you do need to register in advance.
Here is the abstract:
The lecture gives an interdisciplinary overview on horses and chariots in New Kingdom Egypt and in the Ancient Near East focused on: (1) original chariots such the one in Florence and the six from the tomb of Tutankhamun, (2) chariot representations, (3) written evidence, (4) experimental studies on chariots, (5) archaeozoological remains of horses, (6) historical observations, and (7) the reception of Egyptian Chariots in modern times.
The series of lectures, in general, is aimed at people with some knowledge of Ancient Egypt, but you won’t be lost if the only Pharaoh you have heard of is Tutankhamun.
