HorseTelex - are NA breeders adding to the database?

I have been researching some mare families and have come to a complete dead end on Horse Telex with mares that I know are in NA and being used for breeding. It seems like such a shame to have the progeny trail go cold on these mare families once a female descendant leaves Europe.

Are any of you breeders entering your homebreds in the HorseTelex database?

I do

I also add horses that I’m researching if they aren’t in there but their parents/grandparents are

but there again, I’m a Trakehnerd…

I do too.

All my horses are on it. Well, except the pony, but I wouldn’t have anything to add except her own name.

I do, including many many horses who aren’t even mine. If I find a hole in researching horses, I’ve been known to waste a few hours there

I do ours and rely on this site for pedigrees in general over the others.

I do as well! It is such a valuable tool, I do my best to support it!

Good to hear that some folks are adding to the database. I am also plugging holes when I find them.

Interesting side note: I was looking up some info for a friend who is contemplating purchasing a filly from an NA breeder. I found out that the filly’s mare line is based on the highly lauded Oldenburg mare Love Story. This mare line has produced numerous premium and elite mares, approved stallions, and excellent competition horses, including Bundeschampionat medalists and a Pavo Cup winner. The filly’s breeder had no idea - she had never researched her mare’s dam line. How do you know how to breed if you don’t know what your mare’s family has produced (or not produced)?

I do.

I’ve added my horses to the database.

I do!

We do.

All my horses are on it. I use that site frequently. Love it!!

I bet many NA use All Breed.
I like Sport Horse Data.

All the time!

I use it. Thanks for the reminder. I need to add my new filly!

We always add our foals and try to keep the data accurate and up-to-date regarding the mares we have purchased in Europe. However, the new rules and regulations are irritating when we are unable to update or correct information on our imported-as-weanling mares unless we petition, and even then are at times denied. Nor do we like the fact that horses that WE own- and have owned even before birth having been purchased in utero – are catalogued under another’s name. It is somewhat laughable that in Europe the breeder is all-mighty whereas in the States the breeder is inconsequential!

I don’t use Telex that much, but I do use Sport Horse Data a lot.

You can also mark your horses for sale on HorseTelex for free btw

I add only those I know intimately.

ie: My own or my friends.
