horsie birthday present for an 11 year old girl?

I’d also suggest something riding related if she can use it - justforponies.com lets you shop by color if you know what her favorite color is. One of the good things we’ve gotten recently is a fun colored gloves but helmet covers, belts, and socks work too. Saddle pads are good if the barn lets her use it.

Something that she can keep at home and probably enjoy a lot is a Breyer Gift set, like this one. It contains the horse, a rider, and tack. My girls love them.

Thank you so very much!

Subscription to Young Rider magazine?

Also like the socks/saddle pad idea. A pair of riding gloves?

Gift card to her fav local tack store.

Love the socks idea!

You can never go wrong with Breyers, either.

How about a lesson journal like this one:http://www.wildhorsefeathers.com/prodinfo.asp?number=B175

Some kids love to write down what they did each lesson and goals. It’s a wonderful thing to look back on in years to come-“Wow, I remember when my big goal was to jump a crossrail without stirrups!” “I’d forgetten about the time I fell off 'cause Dobbin stopped at the rolltop to eat the flowers in my lesson!”

Wild Horsefeathers has tons of gifty things for kids in a huge range of prices and ideas. They have some lovely picture frames-maybe ask MOM for a favorite show or lesson photo and frame it?

I’d have killed for the horsey bed sheet set. (OK, so I actually had to stop myself from looking to see if they make it in double bed sizes…)

Here are two Wall Murals from PBTeen.com

Don’t look at this:

I’ve seen those “paint your own pony/horse” things at Hobby Lobby. Basically just a model plastic horse that comes with paint so you can make the horse look however you want. Maybe she’d like to paint it like her favorite lesson horse  I know I’d like something like that at that age.

ooo now that I’ve read the other posts I also like:
-cute horsey shirts (there’s so many cute ones out there, especially for children). There’s also PJ’s with horses on them.
-horse movies (Horse in a Grey Flannel Suit, anyone?)
-horse novels for preteens (like the Thoroughbred series or something)
-and the subscription to Young Rider would be awesome too

The Rogue Stallion

And one I can’t for the life of me remember was set in Australia and this girl’s dad worked at the track or something and died when a horse stomped him (seriously, wigged out in a stall and reared up and stomped him). And she and her mom and her siblings move out to some old house in the country (and she’s understandably upset about all of this) and of course there’s a wild Brumby stallion that she manages to catch and tame, etc.

I loved that movie.[/QUOTE]

I ended up getting some horseshoe earrings with sparkly pink stones. They came in a pink horsehead box. I also got her a little tiny mini horse that turned out to look just like her favorite lesson horse. They were big hits! Thank you to everyone for the good suggestions, I’m pointing her mom to this thread for some ideas for Christmas.

That, or buy some extra lessons, depending on how much you are looking to spend.
My grandparents did that for me when I was twelve - paid for me to take one extra lesson/week for a YEAR. It was fantastic.

I was going to say the Silver Brumby but you are probably correct. ( never having read either! lol)

Though Silver Brumby is suppose to be good!

Thanks! That definitely rings a bell.

A picture of her and her favorite lesson pony in a horse themed frame. My parents got me a beautiful silver horseshoe frame (small) when I was around that age. It now holds a picture of me and my pony, and I still love it. It’s on my dresser. They must have got it from either Wild Horsefeathers or Back in the Saddle, because those were the only 2 horsey catalogues we got besides Dover.
