Horze breeches sizing?

I’m looking at trying out a pair of the Horze Grand Prix breeches with the silicone seat, as they seem to have good reviews and are priced pretty reasonably. However, I don’t anywhere close by that sells them in order to try them on first, and looking at the shoe chart they seem to be pretty thoroughly “vanity sized” (why can’t sizes just stay waist measurements?)

Those who have tried them: do they run true to the size chart? My waist is just under 26in … if I’m a 26 in most breeches (Romfh Sarafinas in 26 fit me perfectly) with larger butt/thighs compared to my waist, what should I order? Is going down one size enough, or should I go down 2?

I wear a 40 in Pikeurs and a 40 in Horze Grand Prix. So I would order your size. That being said I do believe they have free return shipping.

I find they run a smidgen large. I have the nordic breeches and they’re my breeches for when I feel bloated or it’s 4* out and I have 17 pairs of longjohns on underneath.

Mine seem to run true to size. I’m a 28 in almost every brand, and 28 fits great in Horze.

I will say I did try the Grand Prix breeches and they looked awful on me. The butt and front area had so much extra material for ??? that it looked like I was wearing a puffy diaper underneath the breeches. The legs fit fine, but holy moly the butt and front area was awful. I sent them back immediately.

I have the Desiree in white for shows and love them. I wish they came in a show tan.

I think they are a hair large, or just more stretchy than a lot of brands. I went one size down from Pikeur and the same size as Struck. Hope that helps!

I love the Grand Prix breeches. I show hunters in the knee patch and jumpers/dressage in the silicon full seat. I find that I am closer to a 26 in these ( i have both the 26 and 28 in the navy and I prefer the 26). I wear 28 in Ariat and TS, as well as in the Hadley silicon fullseat. Smartpak started carrying the Horze breeches so if you get the wrong size, you can easily exchange.

Pretty true to size, generally cut to fit curvier figures in my experience. Also tends to run long - too long for 5’2" me.

I am a 28 in every other brand on the planet apparently, but am a 26 in Horze breeches. I did try both the 26 and 28 on in store once and confirmed that the 28 were a bit too large. I say size down one.

I’m a 28 in all breaches and just purchased 28 in Horze. After the first ride they are stretched out a bit and wish now I got a size smaller.

I can confirm they are large. I just had to send mine back. I normally wear a 28, but the Horze 28 were baggy. Definitely order one size down.

They run one size large in my experience.

The thermal grand prixs run super big. I’m a true 30. My size 28 thermals are big on me. A gf claims she is a 28 (IMO she’s smaller), and had to size down two sizes. I’m assuming you don’t mean the thermal pair, but if you do, that’s my .02

before you pull the pin and order I’d make sure you’re comfortable shipping back incase they don’t fit.

I’ll second that they are a little big. My 28 horze fit better right now than my 28 pikeur but I’m working a little extra fluff 😂

I ended up ordering down one size, and I ordered from Smartpak so I should be able to exchange for free if need be. I’m interested to try the silicone seat … I like the idea of a little extra grip, but regular full-seats are usually kind of stiff and bulky for my preference, especially for jumping. I also sweat a lot, and regular full-seats can be very swamp-ass inducing in warmer weather. In theory, the silicone ones shouldn’t have either of those issues!

In case anyone stumbles back across this thread and is interested in the outcome, I ordered the Angelina breeches in size 24 instead of my usual 26, and they fit very well. I have ridden in them once so far, and I really like the material and the amount of grip they provide without the stiffness and bulk of regular full-seats.
