Horze turnout blankets-opinions on fit and durability?

There are some great deals on this brand available right now. Anyone have comments on how they run (large/small) and how they perform and hold up?

I have a full Horze wardrobe for my TB gelding, but he is very easy on sheets/blankets and was turned out in my small herd. He’s now at a barn on lease, so I will be interested to see how they hold up in turn out when things get playful.

In general, the cheap ones have cheap hardware. Expect to replace leg straps. Otherwise, they have held up really well for me, they are like new after one winter, except for one that somehow got a tear on the hip, which I repaired on my sewing machine.

As far as sizing, I hadn’t tried to many other brands on this guy, but they seemed true to size.

Good luck!

I used the same Weatherbeeta heavy duty blanket on my big-boned, 15h, 1,050 lb arab for 17 years. I had a knowledgeable friend help me measure him to get the right size. It fit him very well. One winter, I picked up a couple generic brand blankets that were on sale at local tack store for my other horses, and those blankets fell apart quickly. Could be just that those horses played rough with each other while my arab was usually above it all, but I think it is also a testament to the durability of the weatherbeeta blanket.

I have two Horze high neck turnouts. The front buckles on both blankets broke, and they fit very weird. No matter how I adjusted the front, the blanket slipped and put a lot of pressure on the withers. Both horses have a higher wither with a broad shoulder.

Horze brand that Chick’s always has for rock bottom prices. I bought a couple last year, and I was amazed at the quality and a good fit. The prices cannot be beat. I got the high neck model and it came up high with a nice angle down to the shoulder so that it didn’t leave a big gap blowing in the wind.

Thanks–considering a couple of high neck 1200d rain sheets that they (Chick’s) have on sale right now.

I have one, and it seems to not fit really well on my guy. I don’t think I’d order another one. It shifts.

My whole barn is in Rambo blankets and sheets (Original and Supreme). Yes they are more expensive, but they are super durable and fit our WB’s well. Some of our blankets are 15-20 years old and still going strong You can find some great deals on ebay if you are will to consider “used” and shop off-season.

I like the fit, but the 2 rain sheets I bought did not make it through the season for waterproofing. My girls are easy on blankets, so no issues there. But my Tough One sheet stayed waterproof the whole season, and the Weatherbeeta for 2 years. I won’t buy again.

My former BO’s horses wore mostly Horze sheets and blankets and every one of them shifted to one side. I can see that happening to one horse, but all three?
