looking for the above please fellow Cother’s!
I have not stayed there, but the W South Beach is right next to the show. You could probably watch from your room window if you’re on the right side of the building.
I would advise anyone to go watch the Miami show if it’s at all possible. It’s pretty incredible.
Seagull Hotel is basically on the show grounds. It’s a no frills hotel but you can’t beat the location and the price.
It’s a really fun show for the spectator. Not sure how much fun downtown Miami is from the competitors POV
If you can, I suggest getting a VIP seat. It is hot and you will sunburn and look forlornly over at the shaded, fed VIP tables
Hi I had a few horses in the miami show last year. I was in a room at the seagull and I do not recommend staying there. It was FILTHY the bathroom had mold everywhere the carpet was dirty and greasy feeling like it would be in a truckstop restruant. The room also didn’t have a mini fridge and my coworkers and I had packed food for Fri/Sat because they only issue one meal ticket per rider. Aka even if you have 6 horses and multiple grooms but one rider its hunger games. Anyways our food spoiled (sandwiches and warm drinks) .
ALSO A BIG ONE!!!
the seagull does not have a parking lot. The barns are built on the parking lot for the city out front. There is maybe 40 metered spaces that you can pay for a MAX 6 hrs at a time. There is also not valet/garage. I kept having to feed the meter throught the weekend and managed to have a massive parking stub bill/ 1 parking ticket for not feeding the meter on time.
Has anyone been before? Whas it like? Is there a class schedule? Vendors? Good place for a mini family vacay that we can include horses in?
It is super cool, largely because the show ring is right on the beach, literally steps from the ocean. At high tide, the water comes just about up to the edge of the ring. So the family members who have interest in horses could watch the show, while the rest of the family could do beach activities. It definitely must hold the record for the most horse show spectators in swimsuits.
There is usually a row of vendors there, although it is not huge. There are probably a dozen shops or so set up behind one end of the ring. Some of the best riders in the world attend, so the level of competition is fantastic.
You should be able to find more information about the schedule on the app or the website for the Global Champions Tour, although it may or may not be updated yet for Miami. I’ve been to the show to watch every year they’ve had it so far, except for the year it was held a week later. And let’s just say I don’t usually attend too many shows just to watch. But this one is worth a visit.
