How are your Feiner Stern's doing?
Hessy35, is the same horse by chance that you were talking about?
Nope, I saw Feiner Gold on the internet, not the same horse… :frowning: Feinest Gold is half TB - out of a very nice black mare with Seattle Slew bloodlines that is a MMB GOV Mare. I believe my colt was sold as a hunter prospect, which would make sense… becuase his damn could jump the moon. I found the mare recently, she was sold to a breeder in TN and is in foal to a WHITE TB stallion out there. I search for him, but nothing. My fear is that he was put down at some point… :frowning:

He was so nice I cannot believe no one would be showing him. He is now a 5 year old and was sold in the MidAtlantic region as a 2 year old. If you scroll back through this post I posted pics of him as a yearling, and as a 5mth old. He is beautiful, oh and he won as a weanling at PVDA in the Oldenburg breed class, also placed 4th at Devon that same year in a huge Oldenburg breed class as a 6mth old. And the following year placed 2nd at Devon in the Oldenburg Breed Class as a yearling. I just want to find out what he’s up to, and hope he’s doing well. He was such a nice foal.

2008 Wrap-Up

Ok, any updates on your Feiner Stern’s? How did they do in 2008?

After a fabulous 2007, mine spent 9 months testing my patience with various ailments. We are slowly getting back to hacking and some light flat work and I am PRAYING EVERY DAY that I can event him again. He’ll be 9 in 2009.

Here is my 2008 Much Beloved Feiner Stern Lawn Ornamount:

My 2004 FS mare competed at her first dressage show a few weeks ago and was high point of the show. Gotta love that!

Sonesta, is she the half sister to Kashmere?

My 2003 Feiner Stern mare, Feiner Abend “Farrah”, has been a dream to work with and ride. In October 2008 she received her American Hanoverian Society Elite Mare Candidacy. Now she just needs to produce a foal to be fully Elite. She is in foal to Sinatra Song and due June 2009. We waited late to breed her so she would not be huge for her Mare Performance Test. She got an 8 on rideability.

Farrah is more hunter type but we got her in MPT under-saddle shape. She was a doll. Maureen Frey was my rider and did a great job. BUT…I will never do another MPT unless my mare is 2nd level dressage working 3rd. I thought the test was for 3-4 year olds which are really not supposed to be ridden in frame. Judging was tough. I was happy Farrah make the Elite cut…sweating bullets. She is the only mare of that MPT that made it.

Click on link below and look to right where there is a video link, third down, of Farrah’s under-saddle MPT. The rider had only ridden her a couple of times months apart and then warm up morning of MPT. Probably would have scored better had I gone with rider’s advice and shipped mare to Maurine for the month before MPT but vet vetoed because newly preg, West NIle in that area and mare was delayed on vaccine due to stage of preg. Farrah has the dark bay with diamond browband is in second position of the 4 mares:

I bought her at 6 weeks and shipped her to Calif when she was weaned. So this year was a long time coming.

Robin - her jumping video and style are great too!! Can’t wait for you to post foal photos next year. Congrats all around.

My 2001 Feiner Stern/Picard /Washington mare completed a successful show season doing the hunters with many high placings. I have an idea to breed her again in spring, probably doing ET, then continue her career.

OneDaySoon: I am REALLY looking forward to 2009 foal by Sinatra Song AND to have Elite complete and get her back to work. She is so much fun. I like her jumping style but I think a hunter and they gave her 6.5 and 7. Well, the 50+ mph winds did not make for her best day either. She LOVES jumping and has the mind of a hunter.

Robin - it is interesting that you mention her loving jumping when there’s that rumor out there that the FS babies are not the best jumpers. I can’t say mine has the best style, but he has a huge jump and is very brave and willing. Kind of goes with the overall great attitude…

Below is a funny progression starting last February when one day we decided Farrah was bored with dressage training.

In the first video below Farrah was dressed for dressage but there was one jump in the arena that she kept eyeing so we turned her loose and she had so much fun jumping.

The second video is the following week when an A Circuit hunter rider coming from Colorado (?) showed up at the ranch to camp until HITS opened in Palm Desert, Calif. He asked to ride Farrah so second video is Farrah knowing absolutely nothing. He begged to throw shoes on her, body clip and take to HITS. I freaked because you don’t just throw shoes on a horse, haul with someone unknown and start jumping…thus I declined. I must say he was not pleased but she is my baby.

Third video is about another week later where Megan rode twice and took to a county show. She took first in her first class and another first in another and 3 second places and 2 thirds of 7 classes. So in the video she does not do perfectly but with a strange rider at a busy strange barn with loud announcers, flowery jumps, not one thought of refusal. I must say, I was amazed.

After baby I am hoping she can go to the right rider for A Circuit.

Update. Just put a student (training level rider) on my 4 year old Feiner Stern mare, Feiner Fantasy. Took some video and placed it onto Youtube so you guys can see what a sweetie she is with her rider. The canter was a little fast, but overall, I was proud of them both.

Wow, what a stunner and looks so easy. What are your plans for her, dressage, jumper, hunter, broodmare?

Thanks. Dressage will be her fate.

Sonseta you need to PM me when/if you are ever ready to offer a custom foal out of this mare… OK? … I just love her and I already have thoughts in my head about stallions.

Thanks, hessy35. I plan to show her for a few years and then I want to breed her myself! But if I decide to offer her for custom foals, I’ll let you know!

That time frame sounds perfect. My son will be out of college by then and I’ll be ready for new horsey babies!!

Fein and Dandee

I have a now 7 year old F.S. baby (2002 baby). Dandee is only half hanovarian. His other half is QH (Dee’s Red Bar), so he’s registered under the American Warmblood Association. He’s got Feiner Stern’s eye, a better neck than his sire, but has F.S. withers-shoulder and croup. I have had some stifle issues with him but as he’s getting stronger it’s becoming more and more of the past. I would post a photo of him but I can’t figure out how to upload or paste images on the threads.

He doesn’t have a big floaty trot, but has a great walk, and big canter. It’s what you would expect for a half breed, but for the level that I show he will do better than most! I’ve not shown him yet at my regional USDF dressage shows but I might this year. He’s not quite ready, as I’ve been going slow with him, but he’s close… and he’s very smart so I could see him being ready by spring. We’ll see.

He’s a fun horse, with a playful personality. He likes toys and can be so brave, he spooks rarely and if he is worried, he thinks about what it is, and most of the time moves on. He’s not hot at all. My appy is more hot than he is! And my appy doesn’t stop to think what is scaring him… he spins and runs. Dandee is very mellow and at times even lazy, but he does work hard when asked. He loves attention and will tell me if something is not right. I can feel so much on his back, too. My other horse I have a hard time feeling his hind end, but with Dandee I can always feel where each leg is.

He’s a beautiful horse, a copper bay and has a J for a star and has a stripe. He’s attractive. He’s about 16-2 (I’ve not measured him in two years) and weighs about 1350. He’s big, but thankfully not too big. I didn’t want a big horse and I didn’t want a horse too hot for my amature status-self, and I got just that- well actually I was hoping he was going to be smaller but this is as tall as I would want.

I spoil him a bit, and as a result he’s a bit posessive with me. He can be a pest at times, but in a humorous way.

I’ve taken him to a few schooling shows, and he did really well, he won several of his classes, taking high point at our local schooling series (for dressage). He’s fun to take to shows, he’s very relaxed and takes on new environments with a grain of salt.

We still have a lot of work a head, but I always can’t wait to ride him.
He’s not for sale, nor will he ever be. I wish I could clone this horse… and I know many people feel the same way about their Feiner Stern baby. I’m just greatful to have had the opportunity to own such a fun horse!
Thanks for the thread.

Hi guys

Well, it is nice to see everybody likes there FS babies. I remember when I first brought him to the USA of all the controversy I received of what was wrong with him, how bad his semen is, and that he was EVA position. Nobody could understand why Europe let him go… The reason was clear to me.Hhe outbred himself and everybody had one and wanted the new and younger stuff… so a great opportunity for the USA breeders…

To give everybody a little update, I am divorced finally and I now live in sunny FL and went back to the aerospace world as a program manager. I opened another business but it has nothing to do with horses. I think I dissolved my horse business (and marriage) just at the right time before the economic downward spiral people are experiencing now and hay prices going through the roof… I had so much fun while running GW Ranch because I was doing what I did best, serving people. Because I enjoy it so much, I opened an Assisted Living facility for elderly here in Palm Bay. My uncle had a stroke 6 years which left him paralyzed and all of the facilities that I visited, where horrible and thus I opened my own…

Keep up the good work guys…

Heike: Please, please, please can you find some way to officially tell AHS that Feiner Stern has passed so that they can do his memorial. It is so sad that he is not listed and written up in the magazine. For all he was and all he produced having to be overlooked in memorials just breaks my heart.
