How big an ATV do I need to pull a 4X4 harrow with a tire on top for a ring drag?

So, for those who offered excellent advice on my truck thread, I have found are am closing on a 2012 F250 4X4. Thanks for the excellent advice!

In hopes of preserving my new truck, I am trying to avoid using it to drag my ring. Hoping to find an ATV to do it. I use a a 4X4 harrow with a large truck tire and sometimes a cinder block on top for a ring drag, so how big an ATV do I need to pull?

Speak to me as though I know nothing about ATV’s, because this is indeed the case. In fact, do I wear a helmet to ride one?

My 2000 Honda Rancher is 350CC. It easily pulls a 21 CuFt, loaded manure spreader, and a 17 CuFt. way over loaded dump cart full of manure.

yes, you need a helmet - just like riding a horse that’s why they call them accidents:)

I use a harrow with our Polaris Ranger.
It works hard when the sand is deep.
But I use it for a top drag.

We have a TR3 Rascal with the tractor for a deep drag.

Which one? The 500?

We also have the Honda Rancher 4WD. It is super. 4WD is needed to drag our outdoor arena.

Even my weenie ATV can drag weighted down in low, but the issue is that it is air cooled, not liquid cooled. Definitely want something liquid cooled.

What is the horsepower on the ATVs people are recommending?

This is the one we have. 4x4 ES

What is electric shift? Is it worth the extra money?

I totally don’t know all the details, but our ATV is not a manual, we just push a button to shift. It’s way easier to use and takes less coordination which was important after my husband’s accident.

The way I saw it, the difference was less than 1K and for the amount that we use it it seemed like a good feature. It also makes it easier for other folks to drive the ATV and help us out around the farm since any yahoo can figure out how to drive an automatic

Thanks. I am a dinosaur and still drive a stick shift, so I guess I can go either way.

I just got a Kubota 900x RTV and it is capable of dragging my very heavy arena tine harrow. The smaller ones can only pull a leveling device, not a fluffer if that makes sense. Over time leveling will require more footing so it is six of one, half dozen the other and I have a lot of uses for the bigger machine.

Are you using it in a lot of places instead of a tractor? Anything else in particular? I’m just thinking about the cost of a diesel UTV vs. a tractor.

if I had to get one I would get the tractor as it is the most flexible. I am using it for a variety of things but for bigger jobs I need the tractor.
