How do you all get the vehicle in the trailer when alone? Winch? Ideas please.

I’m just starting. eventually hope to do CDE with a single horse. I have a 4 Star 2+1, everything is over sized and when I measured my friends 4 wheel , off road, pair/draft vehicle, it will fit both up my side ramp and in my front “stall” if the shafts are removed. I have a ramp sized window opposite the side door/ramp. No way on the planet I get a marathon carriage up in this thing solo. Do any of you install/use a winch?

I already have a big battery for the trailer since I have an electric hitch (which was worth every penny) so no problem there.

Please share, DH is more than willing but references would be great.

Most people I know definitely use a winch. I use “hard labor” and trust me, it’s so not worth it.

Not at all.

lol

Goal for 2015- bigger trailer, bigger carriage, AND A WINCH.

hahaha

I have a partition wall between my carriage area and my horse area. The carriage goes up the back ramp backwards- my winch is bolted to the partition wall and has a very long cable to the control so I can steer the carriage as it goes in.After the carriage is in the wheels are tightened against some blocks and held fast with the winch- so it plays double duty for loading and holding. I have a ring welded on my axle to hook the cable to.

backwards. Good idea.

That makes sense. Easier to steer and then get shafts off. Okay.

I also have very little clearance from my trailer wheel bumps to my carriage fenders- I hated to struggle to center the carriage going up the ramp- so recently painted marks on my trailer ramp to make it easier for me to get it right before I even start.

I have colored electrical tape

and I’m not afraid to use it.

My HyperBike weighs 30 lbs and breaks down to fit behind the front seat. Best beach and trail cart in the world!
