It gave me the option to start a new thread here (under thread tools), but it won’t let me anywhere else. How do I start a regular thread? Sorry for the ignorance.

This is embarrassing, I don’t even know how to delete this one!
Don’t be embarrassed! Users actually can’t delete their own threads, so you’re not missing anything obvious. 
It definitely can take a little time to get the swing of how the forums work if you’re not familiar with the concept, but it looks like you’ve gotten the thread issue figured out, right?
