How Do You Remove Micro Splinters (From Hay) When the Skin Has Already Closed Up?

I’ve been using up my supply of sterile IM needles for banamine, trying to open up a hole so the splinter in my finger can come out. So far I’ve had no success with soaking in epsom salts and then trying to dig it out.
Suggestions?

Put on a drawing agent under a bandaid. I use magnoplasm.

Wow, as gross as it is, I get a lot of them, and usually the fluid bluids up and they pop out.

I’d think the needle and epsom salts would help? Surprised it hasn’t worked.

Prid, maybe? It’s a drawing salve.

Ouch, can sympathize. A bit gross but mine finally festered and with a gentle squeeze came out; however, it was uncomfortable till it reached that point.

Needles have always been my go-to for digging out splinters. The super sharp tip makes it easy to work under the top layers of skin without going deeper than necessary. I keep a 20ga in the medicine cabinet just for that reason.

I have some really sharp, extremely pointy tweezers that work great for getting out splinters. They came from a beauty supply place and I think they’re meant for eyebrows or something similarly painful. I’ve actually never had a problem getting splinters out since I got these.

Else, what I find works best is to use a bandaid and triple antibiotic ointment. The ointment seems to soften things up enough to get the splinters out.

Finally, do yourself a favor and wear gloves. No exceptions. Stash a pair in your hay barn if that’s what it takes.

Pointy eyebrow tweezers work the best for me.

A (sterile) sewing needle. Gently pick at the skin over the splinter until you get to it, and then you can pick it out. Works every time for me. What a pain! (Literally!)

The drawing agent is what I would do. But when I can’t get them out, I cut them out with nail clippers. You just keep nipping the skin back until you can get it.

Youll never regret buying a nice set of jewelers tweezers.

She’s Pure Gold-I do use the needle to expose the end of the splinter, and then the eyebrow scissor tweezers can get a grip on it. No relief is as good as getting that splinter out is it?

Absolutely painless removal - wrap overnight in moist Animalintex. Bonus if you can add Solarcaine lotion. I don’t know what else is in that stuff besides the lanacaine, but it really helps the Animalintex do a good job and kills the discomfort dead. In morning, or at worst by late afternoon the next day there should be a nasty little hunk of wood on the Animalintex pad. Ok, absolute worst is that it will have pulled it at least as far as you need to tweeze it out of there without having to dig for it.
