How does registration work for this?

I have a wonderful half Arab half Dutch mare and at one stage would like to breed her (she’s stunning and yes i know I’m biased). I know that if I go to a Dutch stallion I can present the foal and get it registered full Dutch.

What if I went to a Hanovarian or something other then dutch.

If you wanted it in any registry she(the Dam) would need to be inspected and approved for breeding for that registry. Each one is different and have different requirements. I have found that as a whole it is easiest to pick a registry and stick with it as it can get expensive to present them to multiple registries and dues ect. Many stallions are approved for several different registries which allows you a lot of variety to breed to and stay within your preferred registry.

How would you register a half arab’s offspring as KWPN? KWPN does not accept arabs into their reristry…

I am wondering the same thing.

My other questions for the OP:

Is your mare registered? With which registry? Are they full papers, or a COP?

Which side is the Arabian on? Sire or dam?

When you say you can go to “a Dutch stallion and get full Dutch papers”, you understand you must use an APPROVED Dutch stallion - correct? Even then, I am not sure your plan will work - perhaps one of the more experienced KWPN breeders will chime in here.

Sorry let me give you some more info (I haven’t investigated all this as I’m several years away from breeding her as she’s 6 right now and in training).

Dam is Arab, Sire is registered and approved Dutch stallion

mare is registered Half Arab, but I think I can put her in one of the KWPN mare books?

I spoke with the KWPN and the way I understood it (I may be very wrong) was that if I bred my mare to a registerd dutch stallion I could register the offspring as full KWPN … again maybe I’m wrong.

KWPN will not accept a half arab as far as I know. I would have loved to have my horse’s dam accepted into the KWPN mare book but they do not allow that, so I don’t think they would allow the offspring of an arabian into the registry either…I think you would get a COP

I copied this from the KWPN page:

Crosses with non-sporthorse breeds (Appaloosa, Arabian, Belgian or other Draft breeds, Morgan, AQHA, Paint, Pinto, Lippizan, Andalusian, etc.) or unregistered horses are eligible for Register B papers

Register B is the same thing as a COP

Ignorant here. What is. COP? Copy of pedigree?
