how long do optimum time watches last??? should i be buying a second hand one that is 2 years old?
Don’t know about the newer ones but I still use mine that’s 10+ years old. It’s missing one of the buttons and I have to replace the battery annually because it’s one of the ones that doesn’t turn off, but if the newer ones are anything like the original, they last forever.
I’ve had the same watch since 2010 and it still has the original battery by some miracle. They last forever.
I just sold my used one that was over 10 years old. If you think about it, it really gets used once a month (for me) only 5 months of the year. It was still in brand new condition, stored always at room temperature.
They take a regular watch battery, so easy to change out. I only changed it 2 years ago too, they last forever. I wouldn’t even blink at the idea of 2 years old, that’s nothing!
Mine was the original yellow before the colours even came out (that I knew of).
You make a good point – likely part of why I have to change my battery every year is due to keeping it in my tack trunk in all temperatures, and using it weekly for the last 10+ years for both gallop sets and shows. I wouldn’t hesitate at all to buy one that’s two years old! I’m hoping to never have to replace mine; I’ve gotten kind of attached over the years.
I’ve had mine since maybe 2004/2005? (Don’t event anymore, just use it for trot sets.) I just replaced the battery for the 2nd time, but it spends a lot of time in my tack locker in the barn. Either way, replacement batteries are $2 or $3?
This is the problem I had, hah! I didn’t want to let go, It’s been to so many events with me. I received a new watch for Christmas in my eventing colours, couldn’t pass that up!
I bought a yellow one in 2006 and a blue one circa 2014. I’ve replaced the battery on the 2006 twice and the 2014 once. They live in the tack trunk year-round. One stopped beeping and the optimum time people were super friendly and helpful; apparently I’d somehow silenced it.
