I have a bag of Strategy, a bag of Senior feed, a bag of rice bran pellets and a bag of beet pulp pellets - all almost full and sitting in the hallway of my house since June or so. It is dry and cool in our house. Would they still be safe to feed? My little herd gets nothing but hay all summer.
Beet pulp lasts practically forever if it’s kept dry enough. So if you’ve had the AC on, it’s fine.
If the rice bran is stabilized, it’s probably fine too - smell it.
The others are the iffy ones - smell them. They are probably fine if the house has been AC’d all this time.
“Dry” pelleted feed (like the Strategy) usually has a shelf life of about a year, whether kept A/C’d or not. (so long as the bag didn’t get wet or damp)
Feed with molasses, whether a true textured with oats, middlings, etc, or a pelleted, usually lasts for several months at least, but kept in a nice A/C environment, can last much longer. However, the molasses can get kinda dry the longer the date from manufacture. Doesn’t make the feed less feedable, just less sticky. But always smell first if unsure!
Like JB said, the beet pulp has an indefinite shelf life if kept dry.
The rice bran, if the stabilized, pelleted kind, would be the same as the Strategy. If it’s the unstabilized kind (usually a powder form), it can go rancid quickly in warm weather–definitely smell it.
I work PT at a feed store, so sometimes get “bargain bags” of feed that just don’t sell. I always make sure to smell the feed and make sure it looks fine, no bugs, etc, before feeding to my horses. Most feed stores keep the feed in a non-A/C’d building, relying on fast turnover of stock to keep the feed fresh. Since you’ve kept yours indoors, you’ve helped significantly prolong the shelf life. Just go by your best judgment and good luck!
