How many of you didn't fence to your property line? FOR SALE!!

Yup. It’s the neighbors one by one. They are strategically selling their body parts. They kill them at 12am, then bury the rest of them in the manure pile, and need to haul lime to the pile nightly. With this heat, waiting till the cool of the night to do any work is attractive and possibly life saving.

Reading for comprehension  A) not that hot here, and B) long standing practice

My guess, they bury anything they don’t want to pay to get rid of, and I bet someday a bunch of stuff will surface.

The timing could be explained by someone working 2nd shift and getting the tractor work done when they get home.

My neighbor is out on his bobcat nearly every night doing who knows what. It’s annoying.

Chiming in for an update, this thread has kept me amused at work for 30 min now!!!

No update. They did sell their brush hog after mowing before listing, so hopefully that’s a sign they either have an offer or are willing to reduce price to sell before they need to mow again?

Or confirmation of the fact they are just stupid!

Or… that

In our area, unless it is a common fence structure agreed upon by both parties, zoning actually requires an envelope of space. Even common fence structures have guidelines such as the nicer looking since of the fence must face to the non owning party. Something to check…

we have room to mow around all fences on the property line. It’s more for vegetation reasons than animals though.

Neighbor sounds cute. Not sure how I’d handle that. Maybe trail camera to catch the naughty moo? And a bill for manure management. It’s an escalation option at least.

This thread has had me looking a bit more observantly through the car window while traveling rural and semi-rural roadways. Just casually observing that anyone with a large property who puts an important feature next to the fenceline has to expect that there could be some sort of inconvenience with a neighbor, going either way, for whatever reason.

My current board/trainer barn has been in its place for probably 10-15 years. The family that purchased the one-acre property adjoining it, just a few years ago, has chosen to build their house, yard and swimming pool literally right next to the fenceline adjoining the riding ring / paddock. The pool runs horizontally alongside the fence, maybe 30-50 feet away from the fence.

So they have a lot of dust drifting over their BBQ pit and pool, and riders to look at, and to look back at them.

It’s one of those decisions that can’t really be changed later. Certainly not what I would have done, but whatever. They are helping my green horse get used to stuff, that’s for sure.

Well… since it got bumped, a non-updated  They are holding the mother of all yard sales this weekend, selling tractor and all implements, advertising the chickens et al they still have left, outside and inside furniture. The property is still listed as for sale, not pending, but price hasn’t dropped after a month. Checked with my realtor friend who saw it on tour two weeks ago (the offices all do weekly tours of new listings) and said it is at least $50k overpriced and reeked of perfume-y sprays like they were trying to hide something. Oh well.

If they are selling all the stuff they need to maintain it and enjoy it, it does sounds as if they are on their was out. Sooner or later. Good luck!

Sometimes you are limited as to where you can site a building on a piece of property, and where the driveway has to be located.

I agree with @Palm Beach … Especially on only an acre? That gets real small, real fast, especially if you want at least some set back from the road and still maintain a “back yard,” and depending on shape. My neighbors (soon to be former, crosses fingers) were not close to my property at all nor did they put anything close, it’s just that they didn’t keep pretty much ANY of their animals off my property.

I just now saw the guy walking around, which tells me he probably never did get FT work after quitting the military, and she doesn’t work. They already posted where they are planning on moving, so I bet there is a date in mind for either a job there for him, or something else… so I’m sure money is getting tight. Not sure if they will move while this place is still on the market or not? I hope it sells for everyone’s sake, I’m not wishing them ill or to fall into serious financial woes. Plus the higher it sells for, the better for MY comps and also probably a higher quality neighbor as opposed to a short sale or repo.

As I typed… They are loading up the sheep it looks like, so maybe they got them sold?

ETA: I realize it sounds judgey for me to say at 9am on a Monday that he’s home so he must not be gainfully employed, while I sit in jammies at the computer  I’m off shifted to eliminate OT for the six 16-hour days in a row I just worked…
