How much do you tip your hay delivery guys?

Wow, this is an old thread!

I continue to tip when my hay is delivered, generally $20-40 a guy, depending on how big the load is and how many guys are unloading & stacking. It’s hard work!

Wow, this thread is old and my habits have changed. Now I always tip at least $50!

I tip $20 for each guy. Sometimes the business owner comes by himself and I give him both twenties. My delivery is not a lot of work for them (40 bales tops) but they do come pretty often, I’m just barely inside their delivery area, and I live in fear of hay becoming an even bigger, more expensive hassle than it already is. Their delivery fee is $60 every time and I don’t blink at it.

we were not in the delivery area until they figured out we are less than four miles from the regional Purina equine feed mill, we set the hay deliveries to times they need to pickup product from the mill

I have never thought about tipping the guys who deliver the hay. I pay a delivery/stacking fee of $75 AND my last delivery of 4 tons of hay was $625/ton. I’m actually getting another 4 tons tomorrow and I shudder to think what the price will be.

I tip $20 because I ask them to stack 5 high and the bales are about 100#.

I was tipping but my delivery fee doubled on 200 bales and I wasn’t expecting that so didn’t have enough cash. I’ll catch them up next time.

Holy crap - that’s a big ask. I’d feed them lunch too!
