Dumb question. Do you have to break the little square/rectangular flap off in order to be able to turn the dial from off? Or does it turn the other way?
I just bend that thing out of the way, and the dial will pass over it.
It was a bit tough to push past the first couple times, but it’s softer now and easier. It does make a nice stop where you need it too, but if you’re paying attention, it doesn’t need to be there.
Thank you @IPEsq and @JB. After my experience with the 360° sprayer of Canter Mane and Tale that I couldn’t even get to spray 0° I was a bit reticent to force something.

The Santa Cruz shampoo is the BOMB.
Smells great, you only need a little, doesn’t get overly foamy (my pet peeve), and really gets white markings white. I was incredibly impressed. All I did was spray it on, let it sit, and Somerset’s white feet were as white as I’ve ever seen them except when I scrub with blue/purple tinted shampoo. They were really, really white with NO SCRUBBING.
I’m a convert.
That being said, I like my hose attachment a bit better than theirs. So when this runs out, I will just buy the refill bottle and use it with my sprayer. But OMG this is FANTASTIC shampoo. REALLY fantastic.
@vxf111 So glad to hear that! Be sure to leave a review for the product (we love pictures also!) and we will send you a $15 coupon for your next order!
I just used up my sample this weekend, and I was wondering why my Vetrolin thing was lasting so long but also not really getting that soapy. I guess the nozzle on that one wasn’t really working properly on the soap setting, so I stuck the SCAH one on that bottle, and now it works better.
I did let the soap soak more this last bath on my horse’s socks by starting there and then spraying the body, and that approach did work better.
I also really like the santa Cruz shampoo and buy a few of them every year. The ease of no scrubbing is my favorite part - spray on, let sit, run over it with my hands on gloves and then rinse off. Especially nice on tails. Reasonably priced as well.
Leave a review where? Happy to!
I tried the SC foaming shampoo in the dispenser that folks have mentioned here…WOWZER! She smells wonderful and despite rolling at least twice after returning from the horse show, her hair still feels so clean and silky soft!!! This product is definitely one that I will order again! I highly recommend!!!
The only thing I wasn’t sure about was one washing seemed to use up about half the container…and I’m not an overzealous shampooer, so I may go through more of this than other products, but it works amazing!!!
How are you washing?
I’ve washed 4 times (3 on my big 17h WB) and still have at least half the container. I make sure the horse is fully wet first, then I get him all coated in suds and I stop. It doesn’t take very long at all to get him sudsy.
I turned it on and sprayed her all over. I’m not sure how else I would do it haha
I don’t fully wet the horse first, but that had no bearing on how long I sprayed with the soap feature.
I sudsed her up, then used a rubber curry all over (which now I believe was unnecessary because the shampoo did such a good job, I’ll likely skip this step in the future unless she is particularly grubby…) and then sudsed her again, so technically it was like 2 shampooings, but still used half the bottle.
No matter, I’ll continue to use it because I liked the product. Just was surprised because I have other brands that use the same applicator (Vetrolin is one) and it doesn’t seem to go through any at all, which is also probably why the horse doesn’t appear soapy when I’m washing…
Haha yes see my comment above about the Vetrolin applicator. Although I was suspicious when I read the back of the Vetrolin bottle and it said something like good for about 8-10 washings, and I’d hardly used any soap and done more than that. I did use the SC one up fast, and I put that nozzle on the Vetrolin bottle, and now I get more suds out of the Vetrolin. I do think that I’d like the SC one to last a little bit longer because it got more sudsy than I really needed, but I have a big horse so it takes a while to cover his body. At any rate, I’d still be likely to throw a bottle of shampoo in my order the next time i order vitamin E.
How strange. No need to suds again though LOL I wonder if it has to do with water pressure? The hydrant at our barn really shoots out water - can fill a 100g water tub in about 5 minutes.
I’m going to try that when this one is gone.
Yeah, 2 sudsing was overkill but I wasn’t sure and since I was going to a show, I wanted her clean! haha! But next time I will only suds once.
We have pretty strong water pressure too.

The water pressure may have something to do with it. I recommend our foaming tool for the shampoo if you use it often, as it can better regulate the shampoo being dispensed.
Send me a PM if you choose to purchase a foaming tool, plus a gallon of shampoo and I can get you a special deal!
Done!!! I really like this product so I am happy to.
I may have already bought myself a gallon
