How to link laptop to TV to see the games better?

I have Googled this topic, but I am still confused. My first level of muddlement is:

For WEG I want to transfer picture and sound from my computer to my TV so I don’t go blind in the next 15 days.

After WEG, I will want to transfer TV onto my computer so I can burn CDs.

Query: Does one receiver work both directions or will I need 2 receivers?

Query 2: I want to go wireless, but I am not sure my computer has what I need. And external box looks very heavy/awkward to attached to my laptop, but I am terrified to open my laptop and insert a (?) inside.

Query 3: I am too stupid to even know what other things I don’t know. I am sure I have other questions, but I cannot verbalize them.:frowning:

Can someone who is literate in this world please help a total newbie?

LH, I used wires and it works wonderfully. Full screen on the 42" TV. Except for sound - can’t get that wire to work, so I turn the computer sound up loud enough to hear.

Computer to TV

You need a computer monitor type television set…one that will let you use a computer monitor cable to connect the laptop to the tv. You will need to find the input on your tv monitor…on mine(Sony Bravia) it is Video 7…something that takes time as you scroll/input/tab thru 1-6…
Now you have a picture…sound is done by me with a 1/8" jack into my laptop headphone jack to the tv audio phono input.

I suspect that copying the feed onto cd’s has some hackles rising somewhere for copyright infringement…

Oops – No I didn’t mean copying the WEG feed. I meant copying TV shows. (I do not have TIVO so I want to use my computer to save shows I am not at home to see at the time they air.)

You have many questions but I’ll try to answer this one as I do I it all the time.

I connect my laptop to my TV using a HMDI cable. Once everything is connected, I have to select the right “input” on my TV to make the image appear. For the sound - I have to play with the computer’s sound options to make the sound come out of the TV (in my computer).

I watched the opening games in beautiful 60 inch plasma last night using an HDMI cable. It is wired, but much better than the “converters” for video quality.

I can’t answer at all about transmitting TV to your computer though… They are completely different signals. Probably cheaper to buy a TIVO.

I think you can watch TV shows after the fact through a number of websites - Hulu comes to mind - never tried it myself however.
