How to mass delete/hide posting history

Recently there was a different discussion going, and I raised the idea that it might be useful/helpful to some forum members if they could readily mass delete or hide their old posts. For instance… any comments made prior to a certain point in time.

Someone responded by telling me that this could be done by “resetting” your profile. And apparently other people have already done this.

Can anyone provide a step by step explanation on how to do it?

Thank you!

Short of saying you’re leaving, having the mod assign an “anon” username to your account (which preserves the posts but removes the username, replacing it), and creating an entirely new user profile…I don’t think that’s possible.

Simkie is correct.

Users can ask for their accounts to be anonymized, which assigns a random username and email address to the account. The posts remain, but they are no longer associated with their original username or email address, and they no longer have access to their accounts or the ability to modify or delete posts.

Thanks for looking at it and responding.

So I could basically scrape off everything I’ve ever posted (A)
But could no longer post as me also (B)?

But I could rejoin with a new name, couldn’t I?

The posts would still be there, just with an anon user name rather than yours, and you would have zero access to them. The posts don’t go away.
