How to "pad" the edges of the stall in an in/out situation?

Hi,

My very silly youngster (6 yr old ottb) runs through the door of his stall like he’s been shot from a cannon sometimes.

It’s an in/out situation.

Being silly, he often manages to whack his hip on the way through, sometimes hard.

Anyone have recommendations for ways to pad the edges of the door?

The doorway is currently framed with metal edging, which I think is fairly typical?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions for more ways I can protect my silly boy from himself!

Foam pipe insulation might work. This one is one inch thick. Maybe it could be layered on the areas and the. Secured with staples at the back.

Go to a firehouse and ask for some old firehose. It’s great, durable stuff that isn’t too hard to handle.

Repurposing a gym mat might work. The covers on those are so tough. You can even find them made to fit a pole, like this: https://akathletics.com/products/4-t…ant=9672566467 Would be great for a doorway corner. Or they actually sell corner pieces: https://akathletics.com/products/easy-stick-corner-pads-6-tall-6-sides?variant=741993839

Playground safety stuff might also be a good place to look? Maybe something like this? https://cardinalgates.com/shop/safet…/pole-padding/

My quirky gelding used to do the same thing. His stall just had plain wood edges. I stapled a pool noodle to the corners, but I bet foam pipe insulation would be better. It was hard to staple the noodle since the staple went right through the foam. I ended up having to wrap the whole thing in duct tape first so the staples had something to hold onto.

And then of course, he spooked at the new addition and almost hurt himself another way. Because horses.
