How to properly measure fillis stirrup irons

I feel like an idiot, but what’s the proper way to measure a stirrup to learn the size? I need to buy replacement pads for a set of stirrups and I have had this pair for so long now, that I couldn’t tell you what size they are if you held a gun to my head. Any marking they might have had has long since worn off, so I need to measure them. No one ever taught me how to do that. It’s a small, but still important bit of education that is largely overlooked. I couldn’t even find the answer on google.

Thanks in advanced!

Take a paper/cloth tape measure and measure the inside of the stirrup from one side to the other, in the center. ie, from metal post to metal post (the size of the opening for your foot). Hope that makes sense.
