I know you can remove it from things with alcohol, or vegetable oil. But mine is all over the inside of my Cavallo Trek books. Will alcohol or oil harm the “leather” uppers of the boot? I know it won’t hurt the rubber of the sole.

No advice but good luck. Accidentally got some on my mule’s fur and it was hell to try and remove.
I’m not sure, to be honest. But what I would do would be to take some alcohol and get rid of the magic cushion, then condition the leather (the alcohol will probably dry it out). Vegetable oil could be a good idea though for leather if it actually removes the magic cushion.
Goo gone!
Seriously, I keep some with my hoof packing stuff and it works on everything. Bell boots, horse elbows, shoes, fetlocks etc… Just spray on let it sit for a hot second then rub off. I love that stuff. I put mine in a little tiny spray bottle because the bottle it comes in isn’t great but it works in a pinch.
Yep. Goo Gone will get it done… It was the only thing that got it out of my hair.
Wish I’d tried that when I got it in mine once. Had to go to a friends and get her to cut it. Lost about 4 inches. lol
Goo Gone works great
If you’re like us, your barn is now full of alcohol-based gel hand sanitizer. This works much better than straight alcohol to remove Magic Cushion because the gel suspension helps to keep it where it’s put instead of it running all over the place. Try that, and then condition your boots. They’ll be fine.
Heading to Home Depot tomorrow – but bringing hand sanitizer, too! What great suggestions, thanks everyone. He gets shoes tomorrow, so the cleaning begins…
(@Atlas_Shrugged, that is my favorite book!)
I find your topic very interesting because I tought that Magic Cushion could only be used for shod horses, here I understand that you use it on your barefoot horse. My horses are barefoot and one of them has quite thin soles (appendix with TB feet lol). Do you just put Magic Cushion on feet and then put on the boots?
If you want to avoid Magic Cushion in your boots – which I am cleaning today and it is taking some time – then I suggest adding a wrap before you place the Magic Cushioned hoof into the boot. I bought a 6 or 12 pack of Equifit Hoof Tape, which are precut single use “hoof wraps” that keep the Magic Cushion in. I also used a piece of brown paper bag on bottom of hoof before I wrapped it.
However, I used them only after I put too much Magic Cushion in with a diaper and it oozed into the boot (and on his heel bulbs, etc)…
If he is not going into boots, I read that you can lightly pack the bare hoof, then stand him in sand or shavings and it might last 24 hours.
An update: Lestoil works best! A glug of it in a dishpan with your soiled boots and the Magic Cushion dissolves right off, minimal scrubbing.
