How to Remove Wonder Dust?

So my horse has wonder dust, that blood coagulant, all over his hair. I can’t get the crap off of him. Any suggestions as to how to remove? I can’t scrub because of stitches.

Just leave it?

Says soap and water on the MSDS. (I’d soak not rub)

Soak it off by putting a very wet soapy cloth on it , then peel it off . I would’t use it over stitches , it is mainly to be used for proud flesh and open type wounds. I guess now we know why.

Why? It’s probably not doing any harm. If you’re worried about it mixing with other topicals, I have not personally had a problem with that and I use it a lot.

2nd part of my question is, why is it sticking? Was it put on top of another topical? (probably nbd imo) Or, is the stitched area oozing and making the Wonderdust turn to guck?

Either way, if it is not irritating anything but your sensibilities, then don’t worry about it. It will likely be worn off before the stitches are removed. If not, then you can wash it off at that point.

It is irritating his skin so it has to come off. I will try soaking a wash cloth over it. Luckily there is none over the stitches, just around it.

If you are going to wash it off, make sure you get all of it in one go. Wetting the lime in it could cause further irritation.

The main ingredient, hydrated lime, or calcium hydroxide, is not terribly soluble in water, but it is more soluble in cold water than warm. I would try soaking a washcloth then hosing liberally with cold water. It is soluble in acids, so if soap and water don’t work, you could try a washcloth soaked in diluted vinegar, but be careful of the stitches.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I also considered using a acid of some sort but felt it might sting so decided against it.

For future reference if anyone needs to know how to get rid of it, goo be gone and a dull edge will take it off without any pain or hair loss.
