Huge Equine Expo in Lexington same as time of WEG

I just found out that the International Equine Expo will be in Lexington from the 24th till the 10th same time as the WEG. $5.00 to get in . The shoping opportunities just get Bigger and Bigger and bigger! http://horsecapitalproductions.com/index.php

There’s also one in Georgetown. Same time, different place.

It’s too bad with the outrageous hotel prices many non-local people can’t afford to stay another night to check out these expos.

I hope we get some updates as to how well attended all the interesting stuff outside of the competition is.

Looks like some super vendors. Hopefully will allow for some deals like at Expos. I can’t imagine vendors at the Park will be able to discount much considering what they’re paying to be there…

At Atlanta, by far the best shopping day was at the end. They starting giving discounts in the last days as they tried to get rid of inventory, not just for the Olympic specific souvenir stuff but even some of the general stuff. I remember I picked up 2 more T-shirts the last day there and wished I’d waited on the first T-shirt.

Where, exactly, will the one in Geo’twn be??

Cool!

Now I have something to do before I have to catch my flight home on Sunday.

These other shopping venues are looking far more apealing then spending an extra $25.00 for a grounds pass to get into the park on days off.

AND Georgetown will be having the annual Festival of the Horse on the weekend of Oct 1,2,3. Downtown Georgetown - intersection of state route 25 and 460 (Broadway and Main). There will be a parade, downtown vendors, activities at the Cardome art center and adjacent Yuko-en garden (check out the 1,000+ origami horses that have been folded by schoolchildren, retirees, our Saddlebred Youth group, the Japanese language class at the high school - there is a plan to have the largest ever origami horse folded and on display as well, all coordinated by Georgetown College Art teacher Carol Ann Freid and Anne Leider)

Home town horse games on Saturday at the Scott County Fairgrounds, on 25 north of Cardome center, and horse show Sunday at the same place.

Nothing much fancy, they shut down the center of town and have a fun time for the weekend. Please do come and enjoy yourselves!

My thoughts exactly - it’s a shoot yourself in the foot scenario for the Lexington area. I’d love to stay longer than the one day I am driving down, and then its’ just for the park event - no time left to enjoy anything else !! b/c I can’t afford to stay over.
