Hunt Clubs in Northern VA

I was hoping I could get some recommendations on hunt clubs in the Northern Virginia area, I know there are quite a few to choose from. I live in Amissville and my horse is near The Plains, so somewhere in that general area. I currently event, but I grew up hunting with the MOC Beagles and Fairfax Hunt, however that was almost 20 years ago. I really miss hunting, but don’t know where to start in finding a hunt to join. I don’t know anyone that hunts, and I know many of them have a rule that you can only cap as a guest of a member, so not sure how to proceed. I’m hoping to find a friendly hunt that is welcoming of new members. Thanks in advance for any tips and information!

You are correct. There are many choices.

I suggest that you PM Hunter’s Rest or contact her through her web site. She can make an excellent recommendation and maybe introduce you to some folks.

Contact the Secretary of the hunts nearby, they can tell you about the capping rules for their hunt. Close to you is Piedmont, Orange County, Old Dominion, Thornton Hill, Rappannock, Casanova, Bull Run. They all have web sites with contact information.

Some of our Old Dominion territory has an Amissville address. Please please contact me! You may even qualify as a ‘landowner.’

On the general topic- is Snickersville a formal pack that is NOT recognized by the MFHA?

Snickersville is not a member of the MFHA.

Hi! Our local hunt is Casanova, and I highly recommend it. Visitors are able to hunt with permission of the masters. Their contact info is available here: http://www.casanovahunt.com/
