Hunt coats for athletic built small chested women

I found a great deal on an RJ classics huntcoat in my size that’s not returnable. I’m pretty petite with A cups on a good day. More of an athletic build. Anyone know if RJ classics coats fit my figure? I recently shopped for blazers for work and found a lot left a huge gap where my boobs would be if I had them. I haven’t bought a hunt coat in about 300 years. The only one I have now is this Tailored Sportsman that I found at a garage sale that is probably older than me, powder blue/gray ish. It’s magnificent and looks like it was custom made to fit me but, alas, is the old school thick wool and I think it’s time I got with the times. Also, just starting to show again this summer and I’ll probably be sticking In the hunter ring so I should probably get a more traditional color. Any other brands anyone who has a similar build feels fits great? I would consider a “splurge” brand if I found a good deal.

My body shape sounds very similar to yours and I love my RJs! I do get the petite size, otherwise the arms are way too long for me.

I am boobless and love my RJ Classics Xtreme.

I hadn’t tried on or bought a hunt coat in about a decade, so imagine my surprise when I started showing Paints in English classes, needed a hunt coat and… :flushed:

I honestly think I tried on 20 or more in various brands and sizes. The mesh fabric really threw me for a loop, too. It was a lot of shipping and returning back and forth.

While I’m more “endowed” than an A cup, I also found that many brands were fine through the waist and shoulders, but then huge through the chest area on me. Ultimately I ended up with two RJ Classics in the harmony mesh (the front portions are a solid material). Overall I found the RJ Classics to be very consistent in fit and true to their size charts, if that helps.

Also: Thanks to all the threads and posts on COTH regarding styles and fabrics. I have gone over to the mesh hunt coat side and shall never come back!

Ditto what others have said about the fit of the RJ Classics.

I’m another who has several RJ’s, mesh, machine washable, dry clean only, shadbellies. They all fit fairly similar.
I’m a B cup on a good day, 125lbs, 5’5” with longish arms. Depending on the stretch I can fit in a 00, 0, or 2.

This is so weird. I don’t have much in the boobage region and RJs have always been sloppy in the chest on me. My wool coats have some alterations done. I’ve tried on their Shads and they’re even worse. Their mesh coats are a touch better but not much.

Marigolds fit me off the rack, as do AA Platinums. I have transitioned to the mesh world and refuse to go back to wool, aside from flat classes at the major fall shows where I won’t risk melting and dying mid-pattern.

I had no idea that Marigold hunt coats were still being made. Wore their shirts and show coats decades ago. Found their website, and as in the past their stuff is still gorgeous.

Broad shoulders with B cup, and the AA motion lite works great for me. 5"4, size 0 usually, and i can fit the xxs or xs.

I tend to have to size up some to fit my shoulders —do not have feminine shoulders or upper arms. This can also make sleeve length an issue. And I have small boobs. RJ with four buttons is my new favorite modern coat and I have gotten a lot of compliments on it (though also because it’s gray so stands out some).

I have broad shoulders and am fairly flat chested myself. 5’6 and bounce around from a size 0-4 in normal clothes. I usually have to size up to a 4 in jackets for my shoulders and then have them taken in at the waist/chest. Then I just add an extra boob pad into my bra so no one thinks I’m supposed to be in short stirrup!

I will say, I did get a tredstep jacket recently and it fit better in the chest than my TS in the chest, even without extra boob pads, and has some stretch to it so that may be a good option for you to look at.
