Hunt Night in Aiken

Just got home from Aiken,SC where a “team” of Live Oak Members made the six plus hour drive to participate in Hunt Night (held this year at noon on Saturday). The Aiken Fall Festival Horse Show run by Equus Events put this on for the second year. It was VERY nice.
Not as large as Warrenton’s but a whole lot easier to get to for us Southerners!

Congratulations to Why Worry’s “team”…they won the three member team competition. Our team (LOH) was short a member, as one of our members had true heat stroke and couldn’t ride! (so they let us go as two but placed us last and called us the “handicapped team”) She’d won both of the classes she’d participated in before fainting!! (Dacia) I wasn’t aware this had happened until the end of the division, so I was able to go on to do well and win the Fieldhunter Championship on Debonair. I later joked with Dacia that it was mighty nice of her to pass out to give me a chance (she’s a lovely rider, former professional and R Hunter Judge) My fellow teammate also still riding, Kathy Nofsinger, won Reserve Champion!

I’m sorry that I missed the placements of the Adult’s division, as I was preoccupied with Dacia’s recovery. (She is okay now–it was pretty hot in the afternoon sun to be in our vests and shadbellies with NO shade) I hope someone else will fill in the rest of the winners for me!!I believe Kathy Chambers was Champion.

We really applaud the show for holding this event. They had lovely food and drinks for everyone after the competition (spectators and rides) in the “sponsors tent”…where many also sat to watch the competition.

I’ve always wanted to go to the Hunt Night in Warrenton, but never made the 14 hour drive…so I’m so thrilled we’re having one further south! Hope everyone will join in next year. This was the second year so they are still “tweaking” a few things …the jumps were very natural and inviting IMO…and the southern hospitality great as always!!!

Congrats on your win FF, I had heard that Kathy N was reserve in her division and about Why Worry’s and Cathy C’s wins. Hope Dacia makes a quite recovery.
