Hunt Roster Issue

Always puts a smile on my face when this issue arrives! I like to settle down with a cuppa and enjoy!

I hope I can find it in Oklahoma somewhere!! Not sure if the local tack store carries it anymore or not.

I thought it was a great issue. Better than usual (and “usual” is pretty good!)

The story of Leica - what an incredible horse to have. There were some wonderful essays written by kids; and lots of other goodies.

On FOL someone mentioned that stag/boar hunting advertisement; but I asked around and no one knew anything about it. It’s a mystery.

Kudos to the COTH staff.

My only complaint is that they switched the paper. Any of you remember papering tack rooms and trunks with old issues?

Ha, JSwan, and bathrooms.

I have not gotten mine yet. Wonder what gives?

Oh, well, I’m further west than you, and won’t even start looking for mine for another week. The snails pulling the mail get realllly slow as they get a whiff of the Great Salk Lake.

A couple of years ago I waited patiently for about 3 weeks for the Hunt Roster, then finally contacted the Chronicle which cheerfully mailed me a replacement. A week after the replacement arrived, the original turned up.

I got mine!

I got mine on Weds. at the NA Fieldhunter championship competition day with Warrenton Hunt! Mr. Banner himself was there and brought a box of them! All the riders/attendees were scooping them up like free candy! Well, better than candy!! What a nice fellow!! I chatted him up about how much we LOVE these boards…he told me about the demographics…80% women ages 18-55. But I digress!! WH had a stellar morning hitting immediately over the first coop!! We’d had fog/dew and that helped our desert like conditions. 2 busy hours. Woops…digressing again…
So my favorite part is reading the rosters and finding out who’s master now, who’s huntsman, staff names (found my hubbys with our basset pack! That was a pleasant surprise!) and the description of territories sometimes busts me up! Did you see that California Harrier packs? And some tell you what kind of horse works best in their country!! I’m always happy to see the new hunts getting registered/recognized. And the MFH pictures are cool/amusing too! Fewer this year?
But to me…THE article was the pictures of the Live Oak kennels!! WHOA!!! Are they fabulous or what??? When I die; I wanna come back as a Live Oak hound! Better yet, a brood bitch! (AC in whelping barn?!) Simply spectacular! They’ve set the bar high! Bravo!!

“It’s the moooooost wonderful tiiiiime ooooof the year…”

As I sit waiting…much like Beverley…the mail snails really crawl when nearing Phoenix as well. I had the subscriber’s e-mail from Gloria @ CotH that said they’ve got new distribution centers or something like that, so I’m hopeful that it will eventually make a difference.

However, in the meantime I can always read back issues of the Hunt Roster. Those, I keep.

Well?!!

Have the snails made it to Utah & Arizona yet!!??!!
LOVE the color too!

Oh, heavens, no. Much too soon. But, our fellow poster from Austin on another hunting thread got hers this week, so there could be hope for next week!

A miracle hath occurred

My snail must’ve have Turbo installed, because I got my Hunt Roster on 10/9 & promptly devoured it that night!

Opening Hunt for GCH is 10/27. Wheeee! PVB opens on 12/2. I am SO excited. It’s hunting time, it’s hunting time!

Runaway snails…

or, they fell in the Great Salt Lake, and melted.

Sigh. Still no Hunt Roster. But the Oct. 5 issue arrived today, well worth it for both hunting articles.

Wannabe equitation riders, see p. 49. THAT’S how you ride a horse over fences!!!
