Hunter Derby - do men wear Shadbelly Jackets too?

Just watched the latest Hunter Derby from Ocala and noticed that the men I saw ride did not wear Shadbelly riding jackets? Is this not considered formal attire for both men and woman? Just curious.

No, they wear white pants.

And if members of a hunt in such standing that they are allowed to wear a scarlet coat, gentlemen are allowed to wear that jacket in a formal class, I believe. I vaguely recall someone mentioning a jumper rider who had been awarded a scarlet jacket as a Team member wearing that in a formal hunter class as well? Either way, scarlet jackets aren’t often seen in a hunter class!

Peter Wylde normally wears his team coat for the big derbies (finals, etc.)

Attached a link that has a picture of Peter Wylde and Candor 15 with his team coat/red jacket. Scroll down he was 4th. http://www.phelpssports.com/printarticle.php?id=10013290
