You know what they say when you assume.
Do what you want but KKK is literally the first thing that came to mind. I can’t possibly be the only person to easily see that. I wouldn’t show in the south with that name.

All of this may be true, but it doesn’t change the fact that at least two people of the dozen or so that replied find it reminds them of KKK. We are people. There are probably more. It’s not like it is such a great name that it’s worth the negative connotation.
I literally thought the exact same thing.
Just curious. If you don’t approve of the horse’s name, what will you do if the horse is at the same show as you ? Will you scratch classes and refuse to be in the same ring ? Will you spend the money to file a protest with USEF ?
What exactly is the penalty for having a horse with a Jockey Club approved name that reminds you of something that many others don’t see ?
Do you show at all? I’d think anyone who does understands that it is a small world. Can we also stop pretending like the JC is some shining beacon of leadership and good judgement? The racing industry is disgusting.
Huh??? I would do absolutely nothing. It makes zero difference to me what people name their horses. This person asked, so I said what I thought, which is that it reminds me of the KKK. You told her what you thought, which is that the name is great. Why do those of us who see the KKK have to be wrong?
Gotta jump in and say KKK was the first thing that popped into my mind too, sorry.
Mr. Big would be cute, and true to his form! It reminds me of Sex and the City
How about ___ Baccara
Baccara or Baccarat has been popular among the French nobility since the 19th century. During the Napoleonic era and before the legalization of casino gambling in 1907, people in France commonly played Baccarat in private gaming rooms. It was developed into a house-banked game in Havana in the 1940s, and is the most popular modern form.
I don’t know that I’d be able to resist naming the horse Air Nation or something like that, but I would absolutely be calling him Appa at home.
Oh, crap.
I am a big proponent of keeping Jockey Club names, but yeah…now that it has been mentioned, that’s all I can think of. What a bummer.
I don’t suppose Mr. 3,000 would be of interest to you? I suppose at that point, it loses the intended effect of making him trackable by his JC name, so might as well come up with something new.
This isn’t related to his lineage but, given the three in his name, I thought of C-3PO. Guessing that’s not quite what you’re looking for.
How about Mr. Three?
Alternatively, maybe the Jockey Club would authorize a name change if you pointed out the possible negative connotation. They do have rules about “unacceptable” names.
Also, I promise you, at some point you’re going to get a show announcer who doesn’t understand the name and will announce to the entire show that you’re riding in on Mr. KKK. I wouldn’t really want to be publicly outed as a white supremacist like that, but you do you. Gonna be suuuuuper awkward though.
