Hunter/Jumper barn in Leesburg area

I am relocating to the Leesburg and or surrounding area in the upcoming months and wanted to get some advice on the riding and training up in that area. I am looking at my options for places to ride at and possibly bring my horse to board after I move up there and settle down. All suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Plenty of choices in the Leesburg area - it all depends on what you are looking for.

Good trainer and nice facility.

PM sent

Sonya Crampton at North Slope stables - she is fabulous.

It all depends on your budget of course, but…

In Leesburg itself, Terri Young at Clairvaux. www.cveq.com

If you want to look in the Middleburg/Upperville area, I can recommend others.

I’d like to be within 30 minutes of Leesburg. I will not have time to waste with traffic… As for budget, I believe you get what you pay for, I’m not saying its unlimited but I am considering all options…

What are you looking to do? big show barn that travels the A circuit, or smaller local shows, lots of adults or doesn’t matter? Lots and lots of barns in the area, all with something different to offer.

Also recommend Terri at Clairvaux – http://www.cveq.com/

I unfortunately won’t have the time to show with school. Ideally a barn with a great group of people a wonderful staff and possibly horses to ride as I may wait to bring my horse up after I move and settle in with school. Showing isn’t a priority for me right now, I want to be able to maintain my riding. When I bring my horse I will want to be taking lessons regularly given my schedule allows that.

I’d recommend Jane Nordstrom in Middleburg, which will be almost 30 minutes from Leesburg: http://www.janenordstrom.com/

She has great horses for lessons. They do local shows and local A/AA shows. There are even schooling shows at the facility if you get the showing itch. Staff is very friendly, knows their stuff, and is on-site.

Feel free to PM if you want more info.

I third the recommendation for Terri Young at Clairvaux - lovely facility and she’s a great trainer.

Just FYI they don’t do hunter shows anymore at Foxchase, just jumper and combined training.

Really? Fox Chase’s website says they’ll have a hunter series for 2014. Hope they keep doing them!

What is your current level of riding? There are some very good trainers within 30 minutes of Leesburg, but level and quality varies widely.

Great news! They didn’t do any this year and I’d been told they were going to continue in that vein. Happy to hear that is not the case!
