I’m looking for a barn that specializes in Hunter/Jumper specifically Equitation and Hunters to ride at for the summer. I’m a University student so I’m too poor to show and just sold my horse, so it has to be a barn that has lessons available. I’m in Barrie, so if anyone has a suggestion of a barn within a 40 minute drive and preferably an A circuit barn
There aren’t really any true A circuit barns in the Barrie area, more like Trillium barns who will venture to an A show if the current students/horses want to go.
The closest barns with trainers who would meet your needs are probably
Butler Show Horses (Shawn Butler)
Top of the Hill (Erin Amos)
Skyland Stables (Jenna Rogerson)
SJD equestrian (Susan Duncan)
There are some smaller barns with very good coaches who do some more A shows, but likely won’t have lesson horses available. Try looking up barns who show Georgian Bay or Central East Trillium. They’ll be the “biggest” barns.
I second Erin Amos at Top of the Hill
Skyland Stables is moving their operation from their rented barn in Bradford to their place in Barrie at some point in the future. Jenna primarily does the A circuit, and she usually has quite a few half-leases/part-boards available.
Rushmount just north of Orillia.
Jenna (Skyland) is wonderful.

OP, do you know if you’ll be living at the north or south end of Barrie?
If you’re at the south end and close to the 400 you’ll have more options. Anything around the Hwy 9 and 400 intersection would be a 30-40 minute drive.
If you’re at the north end or further from the 400 than add 5-15 minutes to the drive.
I second Mac and Christi, they are worth the drive.
There is also Kaiser Stud in Cookstown, which should be able to accommodate you for lessons.
