Hello,
Looking for a hunter jumper place for my kid to continue developing skills, he has a possible interest in future shows, but just needs schooling and lessons at the moment. Any tips?
Thanks!

Hi neighbor! I’m over in Kearneysville!
Look into Hunt Club Farms. I believe Allie Snowden is offering lessons there. Would be about 30 minutes from you.
There isn’t great options (imo) in our immediate area for quality lessons without going to Berryville, NoVa, or MD.
Thanks for this, looks beautiful. Appears to be about 45 away from door to door. Hoping to hang out and find somewhere a little closer? Do you know of anywhere you would recommend in MD? I wonder if any of those (assuming you have any) would be closer…could well be.
For kids looking to fit into a potential hunter jumper lesson program, I think Redgate Farm in Bluemont might be a good fit for you. They do have lesson pony options, group lesson options, and schooling shows. A good place to get your kid started, and a good place to help support as they get ready to start showing.
I’m not knowledgeable about options on the Maryland side of the border - perhaps someone else can weigh in. I think there is one hunter jumper lesson barn in Martinsburg I have heard of… but if I were getting a child going, I would choose Redgate instead.
Another option is Elmington Farm. I’m not sure what they have going on there at present in terms of their hunter jumper coaching and lesson ponies. But it might be pretty convenient and worth checking out.
They are great but an hour-ish without traffic from OP. It’s hard to find places with quality instruction and lesson horses.
Reach out to Blue Ridge Riding Club. They are just over the bridge in Boonsboro and know all the MD barns.
what about Tony Workman in Hillsboro VA. is he still there?
Mindy’s Oak Tree Farm if you think she will have goals. They do VHSA locals and rated shows.
Sarah Lowe had a pony of mine and I really liked her. I think she would be a fit for what you describe! I would look for her on FB.
Nope, sadly retired. Though he has been spotted riding at some shows lately so may be making a comeback!
