Hunter/jumper breeders in North America

I know there have been other posts on this but I couldn’t come across anything recent.

I am on the hunt for a 3-5 year old (4 being the ideal age) hunter prospect and want to look in North America, primarily directly from a breeder. Anyone have suggestions on where to look? Canada is definitely in my search and am potentially planning a trip to Ontario in December.

Sending you a PM. I know of a tall 3 y/o gelding, dark bay, just started under saddle. Still owned by the breeder. Holsteiner sire and Han/TB dam.

Aileron Stables on PEI and Slatehill Sporthorses in Nova Scotia are great places to look. Crosby Stables in NS as well, maybe - although they suffered a fire last year and I’m not sure how much they’ve started breeding again and what they have to sell anymore.

None of them keep up their websites terribly well - but well worth a call or email (or maybe facebooks are more current - not sure).

If you’re coming to Ontario, start with W. Charlot Farm: www.charlotfarm.com

They (Augustin) are currently leading the USEF Hunter Breeder rankings (again): https://www.usef.org/_IFrames/pointsAwards/points/leadingBreedersM.aspx?year=2012&section=2000&viewCat=Hunter

I bred my mare to their stallion Cabardino (currently 11th on the USEF leading hunter sires ranking) and LOVE the result at age 3.

I breed a few, but don’t currently have anything that fits your criteria. You might check with Mo Swanson at http://www.rollingstonefarm.com near Allentown, PA. While her primary focus is dressage breeding, she regularly has young prospects that can step into the hunter ring. She would be my first stop if I was looking for a young hunter prospect.

There are three in this year’s Cups. Over the two qualifiers, one was high-point in the GG, another was high-point in the LG, and the third won both classes at the first qualifier so didn’t bother to show up at the second. It’s going to be a Cabardino Baby showdown at the Royal!

If you are headed to Ontario, I would also check with Elisha Massong and Mountain Creek Sporthorses.

Ingrid Bergmann of Perfectly Clear Stables is selling all of her horses for personal reasons. Ages from foal to 10 years old. Just do a search on FB or PM me for her info

Thank you for your initiative! I believe you can absolutely find what you are looking for here!

I would check out:
https://www.oldbullfarms.ca (they have a Facebook and are responsive and very helpful - not sure if they have anything in your age range)

I will send you a PM
