Hunter/Jumper Farm near Gainesville/Buford, GA

I am moving to the Buford area of Georgia in July and will be working in Gainesville. I am looking for a hunter/jumper stable that offers lessons and training, but will not break the bank. I don’t need full service or tons of amenities. Wondering if anyone has any experience with farms in the area or has any suggestions. Thanks in advance!

You may want to clarify if you are looking for closer to 400 or closer to 85 (Gainesville can be a generic term for a lot of real estate between 85 and Dawsonville).

GHJA website is a good place to start - I think Stephanie Hamilton is up that way more to the 85 side and there is another farm close to Dawsonville, Anne/Cathy’s old place, but I am blanking on who is there now

We are located in Cumming off Hwy 369 (Browns Bridge rd) just 4.5 miles from GA 400. Feel free to look us up at www.englishivyfarms.com or email me at Maureen@englishivyfarms.com.

Am I crazy or weren’t you on Post Rd once? I’m probably crazy, but I thought you were close to Hwy 9 and Post…

Nope, we have been at this location since we opened in 2005.

I have no clue what I’m thinking about then!

Sorry OP, just a crazy lady passing by!

Not to hijack the thread… but just curious while I have a few of you in the same post from Georgia. I am thinking of relocating to just outside of Savannah and was wondering what the typical going rate for board is? I would be interested in opening up my own boarding facility, but it is hard to figure out what my purchasing budget would be because boarding rates are all over the place and that would be my main source of income. I have researched and researched but from the results I find, the prices vary quite a bit… I find some boarding barns are like $400 full care (in FL this is the price for a dry stall ONLY in most decent barns), and then I see some more reasonable prices for $700-$1000 full care. Again, being from FL, perhaps I think the higher prices are more reasonable because it is darn near impossible to feed/bed/care for a horse for much less than $250-$300 a month just in pure expenses down here, not counting the stall space they are taking up and my time to care for them.
