Hunter/Jumper riding lessons in Orange County, CA

Hello,
I’m posting this question for a friend since this forum has been really helpful to me in the past.
My friend is looking for a place to take hunter/jumper riding lessons in southern Orange County (she lives in the Lake Forest area to be more specific). She grew up riding hunter/jumper but hasn’t ridden for about 5 years. She’s looking for a place that offers lessons that would be good for an adult re-rider. She’s hoping to find a barn that would still help her progress and take her seriously as a student even though she’ll probably only be able to lesson once or twice a week due to work and family obligations. She’d eventually like to get back into showing and owning a horse, but not in the near future, again due to other obligations, so a barn where students aren’t pressured into showing would be good.
Thanks so much for any information you can offer that would help her!

Bridges Equestrian in San Juan Capistrano.

I’m super bad with geography, I used to live in So Cal (Long Beach and Venice), anyways… I don’t know how far away Huntington is from where she’s living, but I rode at the Huntington Park Equestrian Center and loved it. Really great place with several trainers that she could “shop” from.

Thanks for the information provided so far, I’ll pass it on to my friend.
TheBrownHorse, she did mention looking into the Huntington Park Equestrian Center. Could you, or anyone else, share more information about the trainers that are available there?
And she also mentioned there seemed to be quite a few barns in San Juan Capistrano, which is also a doable commute for her, so any information about barns there would also be helpful.
Thank you!

If she can get herself to Cerritos, CA (about 45 mins away), she’d probably enjoy First Field Farm with Carolyn Biava and Janet McDonald. Top-notch training in a laid back and drama-free environment.

Since she is in Lake Forest, I would think the South Orange County area would be closer to her. Also, the quality of trainers is, IMO, much better then north Orange County. A good option is Woodland Farms in San Juan Capistrano, out of Sycamore Trails stables. They have quite a few adult amateurs right now and the program is a good balance of fun and showing!

Wow quite a rude statement about North County trainers. There are good and not so good at all locations and Sycamore is a zoo with the amount of people who train out of there.

Didn’t mean to be rude, just saying there are way more options down south. There are some goods barns in the Hb Equestrian Center (Elvenstar, Windsong), but there are just way more options down south. Sycamore is crowded, but so is pretty much everywhere else unless you are going private, which a once a week student probably will not be doing (I could be wrong there though).

Thanks so much for all the suggestions, my friend says she really appreciates all of them.
One place she was considering due to proximity is Hayden Showjumping. Does anyone know if that would be a good place for someone like her?
Any other suggestions always welcome too.
Thanks again!

Hayden show jumping is very reputable and has a more private feel than you will get at Sycamore. Maybe try out a couple lessons at different venues and see which is the best fit.

Excellent choice. A nice private facility.
