Hunter/Jumper & Show Terms!

In need of: Hunter/Jumper & Showing Terms
Okay, so my friend is new to the hunter/jumper scene, so I’m making her a list of terms about showing, hunters, and jumpers so she’ll know what everything means! I need as many words and quick definitions as possible… So, if you have any you think she could possibly need, please write your word(s) and definition(s) below. Anything - from what a jump-off is, to words that describe horses, like catty and scopey. Terms such as hanging a leg, ducking, stuff like that!
Thanks,
HunterJumper<3

Bump! Sorry, I just really need the list as soon as possible.

Really? Too broad a question

Sorry. I probably should’ve worded my question differently… But just terms you’d need to remember! Whatever couple words come to your mind!

Ok I feel a bit guilty about my snippy answer

Found this. http://blowingrockhorses.com/blowing-rock-charity-horse-show/spectator-guide/

The topic is broad. Maybe others have better guidance

No worries! Anything will help me! LOL I’m bad at brainstorming…

Just some random links I found on google that I thought looked interesting…

I only took a quick look at each link so I can’t attest to the accuracy of everything in these links. So double check what you find if it’s important to have the correct info.

Google “horse show jumping terms” and you’ll find plenty of links to stuff.

Thank you! I’m writing down the links too…

Thank you! I’m writing down the links too… ;)[/QUOTE]

You’re welcome.

It can take some time to search through Google search results/links to pick out what’s relevant, but it’s probably the quickest route to finding a lot of info fast.

Happy searching.

Not so much definitions as topics (both short and long answers, depending on the topic), but I’ve assembled a blog full of that sort of thing for people getting started in showing (or wanting to learn more):

If she’s willing to do a bit more reading than just going through a brief list, it could be helpful. I’m Canadian but I try to include American rules, too, in the newer posts.

The search function on Blogger can be a bit hit-and-miss so sometimes putting the blog name and your search term in Google can work better if she wants to read about something in particular.
