Any suggestions for a stallion that passes on hunter movement and can lighten a big bodied mare? My mare is 17.2 so plenty tall but would still appreciate height and, of course, temperament is everything.
Check out Asagao, a TB eventing sire in Germany. Good jumping form and great mind. They have just made his frozen available in the US.
How does the mare move? No stallion can produce Hunter movement (assuming you’re talking about w/t/c) with a mare with a lot of knee and hock action. He might flatten things a bit, but not dramatically.
Gatsby lightens up heavy mares and adds bone to lighter ones, and certainly wouldn’t detract from your mare’s height. Very ammy-friendly offspring. With my stereotypical finer-boned TB mare with great Hunter movement, with the traditional daisy-cutting style, he added substantial bone and suspension. His kids do everything from Hunters to Jumpers to Eventing to Dressage, with a lot of that seeming to stem from what the mare was used for/good at.
