Western riders welcome it says. Hmm. Pony is currently wearing a Western saddle, I wonder what the weather will be like?

My friend and I went down a couple of years ago (can’t now, as my mare is no longer sound enough) and had a complete and total blast - even though it had been raining and raining and raining leading up to it! Wow, the countryside and the views were breathtaking! At one point, as we crested a hill, an entire herd of white-tail deer bounded off parallel to us and kept pace with as we cantered along. I should mention, make sure your horse(s) is(are) legged up and physically fit as the countryside has many decent-sized hills. The Camargo Hunt folks are just wonderful and made us feel very, very welcome. For me personally, this rides will stay in my top 5 rides of all time. So. much. fun!
There are no points for “speed”
It’s optimum time, I don’t think there is a speed division this year, Mudroom will correct me if I’m wrong. So a slower pace is just fine. There are hills, but it is sunny and windy down here today so things should be perfect for tomorrow. They don’t care how slow you go, so a “fit fit” horse is not really necessary. Jumping is optional. If you can go on a trail ride with it, you’ll be just fine. That said, there is usually plenty of food/drink left for stragglers, they know how to throw a party.
oh I’m glad you said that, cause I’m finally going, but we aren’t super fit. so we go slow! I went to the hunt clinic there and it was so beautiful.
2ndyrgal, darn it, if you’d posted a week ago maybe I could have talked DH into a drive to check out the route and putting the rig into the shop to fix the lights, but I might go just to spectate and mill around. Beautiful day today!
