My team mate and I are looking forward to Hunter paces this year, after not being able to attend many last year.
She needs to know the dates now so she can take time off work. Does anyone know when the Spring Myopia hunter pace will be this year?
Any other hunter paces schedules already?

Myopia is historically in May, and then the November pace.
Try Nashoba Valley too. Many of them don’t post dates until early spring (like March-ish).

Apple Knoll in Millis has hunter paces. Their 2012 calendar isn’t finalized yet, I don’t think.
Wentworth Hunter paces
The Wentworth Hunt has selected their hunter pace dates. They are May 19, August 11, and October 7. Locations still to be determined. More info will be on their website at wentworthhunt.org as the dates get closer.

I wonder if there will be anything in April…The way this “winter” is shaping up, the footing might be ok in March-April!
Norfolk is in early June in Medfield/Dover.
The Norfolk Hunt Club Hunter Pace will be Sunday, June 3.

Old North Bridge Hounds Hunter Pace will be June 17th at Great Brook Farm State Park.

Bullet,would that event be suitable for a hunter pace beginner? My horse and I haven’t had much experience riding in the open yet.
We have 4 divisions: hunter, hilltopper, junior, and trailblazer. You should be able to ride in either the hilltopper or trailblazer. The trails are mostly on private property, so there are no motorized vehicles to contend with. All the jumps have a way around them- you can pick the ones you like or not do any at all.

Hinderella, I dont know much about your horse, but I DO remember my first hunter paces with my young (at the time) horse, and neither of us where properly prepared. not to scare you, but it was a disaster. and this is on a horse that has gone on to fox-hunt (alot. just fine.) and show for years in all 3 h/j rings. in the ring, the world’s calmest horse. like, we put very tiny kids on her.
riding in company was very exciting to my horse. jumping following another horse was exponentially more exciting. I did not have the bit I needed nor the experience to deal with this.
before you go to a hunter pace, you might want to trail ride with your horse, in company, make sure you have brakes, and see how she/he deals with suddening coming upon other horses (even if you have to manufacture this) and see if jumping in company is do-able (if you want to do this).
at the pace, make sure you have a plan with your partners that is suitable to the lowest skill level or confidence level of your team. are you going to canter ? are you all going to hold up when asked if someone’s horse is not behaving ? are you all jumping ? (my “disaster” occurred when I asked my mare to go around a jump instead of follow the lead horse).
Just a little preparation could go along way…
Thank you Ray, you’re absolutely right, preparation is essential. I’m not at all sure we have time to prepare for the June hunter pace, I’m more likely looking down the road to September.
My pony’s been out on simple trail rides with groups of 3-8 horses, but we’ve done no jumping on those rides. I am a bit concerned about what will happen if she sees other horses jumping, and I don’t want to. It’s not that she’s nasty about it, but she’s very smart, and during lessons she will watch the other riders on course, and I swear she figures out the course faster than I do 
The territory available to me for trail rides was unavailable for a lot of last year, so we’ve lost ground in our training. We’ll start up again this spring and see how it goes. I also plan to see if I can join up with some younger friends who are much more experienced than I and see if they want to join me at the timid old lady pace.
