Hunter Paces in NC and SC

http://www.foxhuntva.com has a lot of hunter paces and other hunt events on the calendar. paces are coded with gray. I know you said sc/nc/ga but I thought I’d mention it.

This one is not too far from NC and I hear it is a great one.

Course is 8-9 miles with approx. 40 jumps (optional)
4 divisions with 10 ribbons in each
Western or English attire, helmet and boots required

We go out at 11:25! I will be easy to spot becaue I will be in a western saddle lol! My horse is sorrell with a very long flaxen mane and a big blaze sliding down the left side of his face. I hope I see you there!

Well we did our first hunter pace at Bear Creek Farm in Moreland Ga. It was a BLAST!! Grover and I were the only ones in a western saddle but everyone was soooo nice. The trails were wonderful! Hopefully we will do more soon!

spotnnot - glad you had a great time. We did, too! Sorry I didn’t get to meet you, but we took the boys straight home after our ride. My farm is only 4 miles from Bear Creek, so we dropped them off and came back for a few minutes, but I think you were out on trail then.

Is there anything a little closer to Upstate SC??? I would LOVE to take my green bean as he has blask jumping natural obstacles (will jump 2’6" log in the woods, but runs through xrail in ring). It would be great to find something to do outside of our “stuffy” horse shows. I want him to be an all-around citizen. Problem is, I don’t have a trailer, my friend takes us to shows and she likes to keep it under 1 hour driving time.

There is an Aiken Hounds Hunter Pace and Hunter Trials at Paradise Farm on Saturday October 3, 2009. Entries are due by September 30th.

It does say that formal hunting attire is required, but a more recent email said that polo shirts are fine as well.

Contact Jan at http://www.wchpace.org/ tell her your “I need a ride story” and she would probably send that out to the Clemson people in her database. WNC is the way to go for you. You will see a lot of beautiful country and meet a lot of nice people. It’s really not that far away. Get in touch w/ the Clemson eventing team. Several of those girls are coming back and forth for paces, XC schooling and (hopefully soon) fox hunting. Amy Nicoles? is an event instructor (I think in your area) and she is over here all the time w/ students. PM me of you need contact info or additional leads.
