Lellie Ward is doing a Hunter Trials and Hunter Pace at Paradise Farm in Aiken on October 2nd. Here’s the link to the flyer:
Red Mountain Hounds in Rougemont, NC is having fall hunter paces on October 31st and November 14th. www.redmountainhounds.com
I happened to notice that the Camden Hunt has scheduled their fall hunter pace for Sunday Oct. 3. No other details are on their website yet.
I have heard these are FANTASTIC…
Great list thus far!
Camden Hunt’s details are now on their website. I’m going to be there, as a volunteer. Hope to see some of y’all there.
Someone was asking what the typical attire was like at the Moore County Hounds Hunter Pace (NC).
Would they stick out if they were wearing a “show hunter” coat as opposed to a “real” hunt coat?
So I hear through the grapevine that the Moore County Hounds Hunter Pace is Nov. 8th. Anyone have any more details? This is the hunt in Southern Pines, NC.
The hunter pace in Camden was absolutely beautiful. Perfect weather and perfect footing. Very friendly members - none of whom I knew when I got there, but they made me feel right at home immediately.
Camden Hunt Country is about 15 square miles of wonderful pine forest with beautifully maintained trails. There were about 110 horses in the pace. Lots of hunters, some endurance, some western - and all horses very well behaved, under control, and a delight to behold. I know, because every single one had to stop at my halfway point and wait three minutes while I gave water to horses and riders.
Lunch afterward was some kickin’ fried chicken, delicious tater salad and cookies.
The clubhouse walls are lined with photos of the hunt from the 1920’s to the present day.
I can’t wait for April - TCH is doing another pace then!
I’m also interested in getting more details about the MCH Hunter Pace. I did a quick google search and didn’t really come up with anything.

I get the feeling that MCH doesn’t have much of a web presence. However, I believe at least one of their members posts here. Maybe someone from MCH will see this and fill us in.
I am not a member of the MCH, but have ridden their poker rides and paces for a couple of years. I have all the information on the Hunter Pace and I’d be happy to email a PDF of it if you PM me.
Date: Sunday, November 7
Time: 8:30-noon
Place: Moss Foundation, Hobby Field, Southern Pines
Cost: $75 (pre entires due by Oct 30) Post Entry $95
Divisions: Hilltoppers, Ideal Pace, Full Cry
Teams: 2 or 3 riders
Formal Hunt Dress Required
I rode and won the Grey Fox II Division last year wearing basic hunter show clothes (boot, breeches, jacket) and I didn’t stick out like a sore thumb.
It’s a blast and very well run. The people are all super friendly too and I got a killer picture of me and my girl clearing the last fence to the finish line. I bought it and it’s framed in my living room. Sadly, I am not going this year. However the RMH Hunter Pace on Halloween looks very promising!!
Yikes I was thinking the MCH one was going to be in the $40 range. I am probably just as far from the RMH hunter pace, and the price of that one is much better.
Stupid question: I looked on the RMH hunter pace website and the ride looks so open and lovely, but is it marked?? I’m very good at getting lost.
There’s one at FENCE on November 7, Western Carolina Hunter Pace Series. http://www.wchpace.org/Events_01.asp?Event_ID=73 Has anybody done one of these before?

YES! We go every fall and have tried the last two springs but something always happens. It is fantastic. Last two falls they have had over 200 horses so it can get a bit busy. Last year they split the trails for the fast/slow group. So it was not as busy. You can school the cross country. I do the water and a few tiny baby jumps. The serve you “beverages” at the half way point.
I mark it on my calendar as soon as they post the date! Can not wait!
Anyone know of any in the GA area?
Went to a few over the summer but they all seem to have died out as of this weekend…anyone have any insite on any others?
Relo - you just missed out on a FABULOUS one at Ashland Farm [11 miles from GIHP] this weekend. What an amazing property they have - and the lady who runs it, Ann Haller, was sooo nice! She even helped me introduce Preston to the water complex!
Ya, I know. We were at an HT at Chatt Hills.
Nice variety of jumps and good footing-we always had a blast!
